Learn More about Adam Graves: Adam Graves was an NHL left winger that was drafted 22nd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 1986.  He became a regular with the Red Wings in the 1988-1989 season, only scoring 7 goals in 56 games but also amassing 60 penalty minutes.  His tenure in Detroit was short lived as he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in November 1989.  He was part of “the Kid line” alongside Martin Gelinas and Joe Murphy who helped the Oilers with their 5th Stanley Cup in 7 seasons.  Adam Graves was signed by the New York Rangers as a free agent for the 1991-1992 season.  He was asked to fulfill the role as a two-way forward as he had during his highly successful junior career.  Graves responded well to the challenge increasing his performance with 26 and 36 goals in his first two seasons with the Rangers, helping them achieve the Presidents Trophy the first year with a league high 105 points.  He won his second Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994.  Graves played for the Rangers until 2001 when he joined the San Jose Sharks.  He retired his skates in April 2004. Learn More about Andy Bathgate: Andy Bathgate was an elite right winger and top NHL goal scorer that played predominantly for the New York Rangers as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He entered the NHL in 1952 despite a horrific knee injury suffered in minor leagues and played all but 5 games in 11 seasons for the Rangers.  He was an excellent skater, easily weaving his way through the opposing team and he had one of the hardest shots in the league. During a Rangers game vs. the Montreal Canadiens, Bathgate took a slapshot that hit goaltender Jacques Plante in the face which required stitches.  When he returned to the game, Plante wore the first goalie mask in an NHL game. In the 1963-64 season, Andy Bathgate was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he helped the Leafs win the Stanley Cup.  The following year, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings where he helped lead them to the Stanley Cup Finals.  He also played one season with the Pittsburgh Penguins before joining the Vancouver Canucks of the WHL where they won two consecutive Lester Patrick Cups. Learn More about Bill Gadsby: Bill Gadsby knew from a very young age, he was born to play hockey.  Playing on frozen ponds in his native Calgary until after nightfall, Bill Gadsby left home at the age of 17 to pursue a career on the ice.  He got his lucky break when Chicago Blackhawks scout, Bill Tobin, discovered the talented defenseman and offered him a contract.  After only 12 games in the minors, Gadsby made it to the NHL at the age of 18.  In his debut game, he got a cut to the face that took 12 stitches to close. Gadsby was a solid defenseman, playing for the Blackhawks until 1954 when he was traded to the New York Rangers.  During his tenure with the Rangers, Gadsby was elected to 4 All-Star Games and in 1957-1958, he set a defense record for 46 assists. Learn More About Cesare Maniago: Cesare Maniago was a professional ice hockey player.  He was a goaltender that played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. Maniago was originally drafted by Toronto in 1960.  He played seven games for the Leafs in the 1960-1961 season.  He was picked by the Montreal Canadiens the following season.  The high point of his time with Montreal would be a 14-game stint in the relief of the ailing Jaques Plante in 1963.  Maniago had a good season with the Minneapolis Bruins of the CHL in 1965, winning the league's MVP award. After that he was traded to the Rangers.  In 1966, Maniago competed for the starter goalie and was also given a questionable distinction by allowing Bobby Hull to score his 51st goal that year as Hull was the first in history to do so. In 1967, Maniago was the expanding Minnesota North Stars first pick for a goaltender.  Due to Maniago’s play the North Stars were led to the playoffs five out of six of their first seasons however at the end Minnesota struggled.  They tried to find a suitable goalie to help Maniago before taking Gump Worsley out of retirement in 1970.  After 1974, Minnesota's fortune sagged as Worsley retired and Maniago was traded to the Canucks where he played two seasons before retirement. Learn More About Chuck Rayner: Chuck Rayner was a goaltender in the NHL.  He played for the New York Americans and the New York Rangers.  Originally, Rayner played for the Kenora Thistles in the Manitoba Junior League.  He showed his potential by backstopping the team into getting a Memorial Cup.  The year after that he turned professional and played for the Americans however he spent most of his time on the affiliate team the Springfield Indians of the AHL.  When Rayner was with the Indians he led the league in shutouts and goals against average.  He was named to the Second All-Star Team. The next season, Rayner was the leading goalie for the Americans final season but then World War II started, and the Americans folded.  Rayner spent the next three years in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He played two seasons there with the teams based out of Victoria. After the war, Rayner signed as a free agent with the Rangers in 1945.  Rayner was the starter goalie in six of the seven next seasons.  Although Rayner hadn't set any goals he was still one of the best goalies of his era.  1948-51 were his best seasons as he won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's MVP in 1950 after leading the Rangers to overtime in the seventh game in the Stanley Cup Finals. The next season, Rayner was the leading goalie for the Americans final season but then World War II started, and the Americans folded.  Rayner spent the next three years in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He played two seasons there with the teams based out of Victoria. After the war, Rayner signed as a free agent with the Rangers in 1945.  Rayner was the starter goalie in six of the seven next seasons.  Although Rayner hadn't set any goals he was still one of the best goalies of his era.  1948-51 were his best seasons as he won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's MVP in 1950 after leading the Rangers to overtime in the seventh game in the Stanley Cup Finals. Ed Giacomin overcame many obstacles on his journey to the NHL.  As a teenager, he suffered serious burns to his hands and feet in a kitchen fire and was told he would never play hockey.  Giacomin was even more determined to prove them wrong.  He spent six seasons with the minor league Providence Red before becoming the starting goalie for the New York Rangers, an impressive feat considering there were only six starting goalie positions in the NHL at the time. During Giacomin’s second NHL season, he led the NHL in shutouts and helped the Rangers reach the playoffs for only the second time in nine seasons.  Eddie Giacomin was the Rangers starting goaltender for nine seasons, leading the league in shutouts for three seasons.  He won the Vezina Trophy with partner Gilles Villemure in 1971.  Giacomin spent his last three years as a player with the Detroit Red Wings before retiring in 1978.  He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987 and his number 1 jersey was retired by the Rangers in 1989. Learn More About Eddie Mio: Eddie Mio was a professional ice hockey player.  He played in the NHL and WHA as a goaltender.  During his career, Mio played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and the Indianapolis Racers. Mio first put himself on the map for professional hockey when he decided to join the Colorado College from 1972-1976.  During that time Mio became a standout as he won first and second all-star awards.  He also made the NCAA west first all-American team two years in a row.  In 1974, Mio was officially drafted by the Blackhawks and the Blazers of the WHA but he played with neither and spent most of his time playing with smaller teams until he went to the Indianapolis Racers. Mio's goaltending was rough with the Racers and the biggest thing in his career would be befriending Wayne Gretzky.  Shortly after that Mio was traded again to the Oilers in 1978.  In Alberta, Mio got his first NHL action and had his first winning season in 1980-1981 before being traded again to the Rangers.  With New York Mio backstopped the Rangers for two seasons, then he was traded to Detroit for a season before retiring in 1986.
