Learn More about Peter Bondra: Peter Bondra was an NHL winger and sharpshooter that played 19 seasons mainly for the Washington Capitals but also for the Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers, and the Chicago Blackhawks. Peter Bondra was a star player with the Capitals during his 14 seasons with the team. He scored 472 goals and 353 assists in his 961 games. He also holds the team record for shorthanded (32) goals and hat tricks. He appeared in five All-Star games during his tenure with Washington and twice won the Fastest Skater Competition during those events. Peter Bondra was traded to the Ottawa Senators where he played for part of one season. In 2006, Bondra was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks where he scored his 500th career goal. He became the 37th player in league history to accomplish this feat and the fourth player to do so in a Blackhawks uniform after Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Michel Goulet. Internationally, Peter Bondra represents Team Slovakia and has appeared in 47 games, scoring 35 goals for his national team. He has been part of three winter Olympics and he has won both a gold and bronze medal at the World Championships. He had a successful season with the Habs that included 88 points (second highest in his career), and 15 playoff points that helped the Canadiens bring home the 1993 Stanley Cup. He played the position centre for the Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals and the Hartford Whalers. Jarvis currently holds the spot for player with most consecutive games. Jarvis did not miss a single regular season game in his entire career. Jarvis was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs first in 1975 but he did not play a single game with them. Very soon after being drafted he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. Jarvis started his career there and played with Montreal for seven years winning four Stanley Cup Championships. In the season 1987-88, Jarvis was sent down to the minors and then he retired. After his playing career Jarvis became a coach and assistant coach. Beaupre was a strong netminder and rated a top goalie when he entered the NHL during the 1980 Entry Draft. The following season he shared goaltending duties with veteran Gilles Meloche. Craig Berube went undrafted and signed with the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent. Berube made his NHL debut in 1987 leading up to the Flyers playoff run. Learn More about Mark Howe: Mark Howe was a professional hockey player that played in both the WHA and the NHL for 22 seasons. He is the son of the legendary Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe and brother of Marty Howe. Mark played left wing for the Houston Aeros of the WHA as linemate to his brother Marty and father Gordie who came out of retirement to play alongside his two sons. The Howes led their team to the 1974 and 1975 Avco Cups—the WHA version of the Stanley Cup. Mark also won the Lou Kaplan Trophy as Rookie of the Year. The Howe family moved to the New England Whalers which became the Hartford Whalers when the WHA and NHL merged. The Howes played one more season together in the NHL. Mark Howe was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982 and by then he had become a full-time defenseman. The 1985-1986 season was a career season for Mark where he put up some of the best numbers ever by an NHL defenseman with 24 goals and 58 assists for 82 points. Despite Mark Howe’s contribution, the injury riddled Flyers were not playoff contenders. After the 1991-1992 season, Mark Howe signed with the Detroit Red Wings, his father’s former team in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, the Red Wings were swept by the New Jersey Devils in the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals. Following his retirement as a player, Howe remained with the Detroit Red Wings as a video coach and pro scout, earning Stanley Cup rings in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008. Mark Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and is the second father-son duo in hockey history to receive the honor after Bobby and Brett Hull. Learn More about Eddie Giacomin: Ed Giacomin was an NHL goaltender that played during the Original Six Era from 1965 when he made it to the big league to 1978. He played for the New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings. Ed Giacomin overcame many obstacles on his journey to the NHL. As a teenager, he suffered serious burns to his hands and feet in a kitchen fire and was told he would never play hockey. Giacomin was even more determined to prove them wrong. He spent six seasons with the minor league Providence Red before becoming the starting goalie for the New York Rangers, an impressive feat considering there were only six starting goalie positions in the NHL at the time. During Giacomin’s second NHL season, he led the NHL in shutouts and helped the Rangers reach the playoffs for only the second time in nine seasons. Eddie Giacomin was the Rangers starting goaltender for nine seasons, leading the league in shutouts for three seasons. He won the Vezina Trophy with partner Gilles Villemure in 1971. Giacomin spent his last three years as a player with the Detroit Red Wings before retiring in 1978. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987 and his number 1 jersey was retired by the Rangers in 1989.
