He spent 11 seasons with the Oilers (1980-1991) where he established himself as a leading goal scorer and fierce play off performer. His aggressive “to the net” playing style helped his team to 5 Stanley Cup Championships. He left the Oilers with franchise record setting statistics including 417 goals (3rd in franchise history), 489 assists (4th), 906 points (4th), 183 playoff points (4th) and 126 power play goals (1st). Glenn Anderson was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he played for two seasons before being traded to the New York Rangers where he rejoined many of his former Oilers teammates. The Rangers went on to the Stanley Cup Finals where they defeated the Vancouver Canucks in 7 games and winning the first Stanley Cup for the Rangers since 1940. Glenn Anderson was inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008. His number jersey was retired by the Oilers in 2009. Learn More about Pat LaFontaine: Pat LaFontaine is an NHL Hall of Famer that spent his entire career playing for New York state based teams: the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers. Pat LaFontaine was selected 3rd overall by the New York Islanders in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. After representing Team USA in the 1984 Olympic Winter Games, LaFontaine made it back to the NHL in time to join the Islanders in the Stanley Cup Finals. The 1987-1988 season was the first of six 40 plus point seasons for Lafontaine. In the 1987 Stanley Cup division finals, LaFontaine scored the game winning goal in the 4th period of overtime against the Washington Capitals in game seven that was dubbed the “Easter Epic”. LaFontaine was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in October 1991 and during his second season with the Sabres, set a team record with 148 points. The potential hockey superstar suffered several career setbacks including concussions, a broken jaw and an injured knee. He was awarded the Bill Masterson Trophy at the end of the 1995 season for his determination and perseverance. He was traded to the New York Rangers but a series of concussions only saw Pat Lafontaine appear in 62 games. He retired at the end of the season with 468 goals and 1013 points. The Sabres retired his number 16 in 2006 and LaFontaine was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. Since then he played centre and right wing for the New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, and the Washington Capitals. Linden spent the majority of his career with the Canucks, playing ten years with them at first from 1988-1998. With the Canucks and in his first season, Linden scored his first goal and hat trick. In 1997, he was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. The next three years of Linden's career were very jumpy. He was traded to the New York Islanders and played with them until May of 1999 when he was traded to Montreal. Linden spent about a half a year with Montreal before being traded again to Washington for the 2000-2001 season. Linden spent a season with Washington before returning to his roots when he was traded back to the Canucks for the 2001-2002 season. He spent the remainder of his career with the Canucks before retiring in 2008. When he retired, the Vancouver City Council named the day of his jersey retirement to be Trevor Linden Day in Vancouver.
