Learn More about Al Arbour: Al Arbour was a legendary player, coach and executive in the NHL.  He began his NHL career as a player in 1953 as a defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings, winning his first Stanley Cup in 1954.  He would go on to play for the Chicago Blackhawks winning his second Cup in 1961, and two more with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1962 and 1964.  Arbour subsequently became first captain of the expansion team the St. Louis Blues.  He retired as a player early in the 1970-71 season. Al Arbour began his coaching career with the St. Louis Blues before taking on a young New York Islanders in 1973.  He took the Islanders from dead last in the standing to the Stanley Cup finals in just 2 seasons.  Although the Islanders reached the playoffs and finals in later seasons, it wasn’t until 1980 that they would bring home their first Stanley Cup.  They won 3 more consecutive Stanley Cups, setting a new record for Stanley Cup victories and 19 consecutive playoff series victories.  Arbour would retire from coaching for an executive position in 1986 although he would once again return to the bench in 1989 to once again coach the Islanders.  By the time he retired for good, Al Arbour had coached 1500 games with the same team and won 740 games.  He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and the New York Islanders Hall of Fame. Learn more about Bobby Hull: Bobby Hull joined the NHL in 1957 with the Chicago Blackhawks.  He quickly blossomed into a star player, known for his incredible speed, end to end rushes, his powerful shot and blonde hair, he was nicknamed “The Golden Jet.” Hull finished second in voting for the rookie of the year, Calder Trophy. Hull became a leading goal scorer for the Blackhawks.  He became the first player to score more than 50 goals in a season in 1966, ending the season with 54 goals, the highest season total of the Original Six era. Learn More About Cesare Maniago: Cesare Maniago was a professional ice hockey player.  He was a goaltender that played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. Maniago was originally drafted by Toronto in 1960.  He played seven games for the Leafs in the 1960-1961 season.  He was picked by the Montreal Canadiens the following season.  The high point of his time with Montreal would be a 14-game stint in the relief of the ailing Jaques Plante in 1963.  Maniago had a good season with the Minneapolis Bruins of the CHL in 1965, winning the league's MVP award. After that he was traded to the Rangers.  In 1966, Maniago competed for the starter goalie and was also given a questionable distinction by allowing Bobby Hull to score his 51st goal that year as Hull was the first in history to do so. In 1967, Maniago was the expanding Minnesota North Stars first pick for a goaltender.  Due to Maniago’s play the North Stars were led to the playoffs five out of six of their first seasons however at the end Minnesota struggled.  They tried to find a suitable goalie to help Maniago before taking Gump Worsley out of retirement in 1970.  After 1974, Minnesota's fortune sagged as Worsley retired and Maniago was traded to the Canucks where he played two seasons before retirement.
