Here is a question I like to throw out to you? Which Toronto Blue Jays home run was bigger? Why do you feel that way? Let’s break it down:

1993 World Series Toronto Blue Jays vs the Philadelphia Phillies – Joe Carter’s Blast

joe carter home runPicture this, being at the Skydome watching Game Six of the World series our at home watching it on television like millions of Canadians (myself included). Bottom of the 9th inning with the Phillies leading 6-5. Joe Carter steps up to the plate and got the count to 2-2.  the next pitch, a three run home run to win the game and the second World Series title for the Toronto Blue Jays.  Tom Cheek’s “Touch ’em all, Joe” still send shivers up and down the spine of Blue Jays fans to this day!

2015 ALDS Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers- Jose Bautista “Bat Flip”

bautista bat flipFast forward 22 years to the Rogers Centre , Game 5 of the ALDS between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers. Bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied 3-3, Jose Bautista would hit a three run home run off Sam Dyson giving the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead. The “Bat Flip” was a huge controversy. The outrage from media and players was huge. Bautista wrote an article about the moment.  He said he “didn’t plan it. It just happened”, and that he was “caught up in the emotion of the moment” when he flipped the bat.  However, to Blue Jays fans young and old this was a huge moment in not only Toronto Blue Jays but Toronto Sports history that will be talked about for years!

So tell us, where were you when these two home runs happened, which was a bigger impact for you?

Look forward to your comments!
