Chris Nilan was a talented Right-Winger, who grew up idolizing Bobby Orr and dreaming of playing with the Boston Bruins.  Nilan was the 231st selected in the NHL entry draft in 1978.  Nilan played with the Montreal Canadians and he was best known as the Montreal Canadians tough guy in the mid 1980’s.  He was one of the only nine players in NHL history to have more than 3000 career penalties. He played with the New York Rangers and in 1991 and 1992 he played for the Boston Bruins.

The highlight’s of Nilan’s career were in 1986, 1987 and in 1991.  In 1986, he won a Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadians.  1987 was the year he played for Team USA during the Canada Cup.  Last, but not least, Nilan’s controversial selection to play on the All-Star Team.  Nilan retired in 1992 with 200 points and 3000 minutes in penalties.

After his playing career, Nilan went into the insurance business.
