Learn More About Dennis Maruk:

Dennis Maruk is a retired ice hockey player who played centre in the NHL for the Minnesota North Stars, Washington Capitals, Cleveland Barons and the California Golden Seals.

Maruk had been playing with the London Knights until 1975 when he was drafted by the Golden Seals.  With them he became the first NHL rookie to score five shorthand goals in one season.  Maruk followed the franchise when it relocated to Cleveland and became the Cleveland Barons.  In 1978, the Barons merged with the North Stars and Maruk became a part of their team, shortly after this he was traded to the Washington Capitals.  With the Capitals in 1980-81, he scored 50 goals and the next season 60 goals.  Maruk was the first Washington player to score 100 points in one season.

In 1982-83, Maruk was one of the players to lead the Capitals to their first playoff appearance.  Despite this, Maruk was still traded back to the North Stars where he finished his career.  Maruk was the last active Seals/Baron player in the NHL when he retired in 1989.

In his 888 NHL games, Dennis Maruk scored 356 goals and 522 assists.
