Learn More about Marty McSorley:

Marty McSorley was primarily an NHL enforcer playing for several teams including the LA Kings, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, NY Rangers, San Jose Sharks and the Boston Bruins.  Marty McSorley played in the NHL from 1983-2000 as defenseman although he was a versatile player that could switch to forward if needed.

McSorley rose to fame after he was traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Edmonton Oilers where he became enforcer and bodyguard for Wayne Gretzky; a role that he would continue to play when both he and Gretzky were traded to the Los Angeles Kings.

Marty McSorley worked hard to get rid of the reputation as a goon and focused on developing as a player.  He earned the respect of players and fans alike.  Although he played a bruising style of hockey, racking up many penalty minutes, he also put the puck in the net, scoring 15 goals and 36 points in the 1989-1990 season.
