Mike Peca was an NHL center that played from 1993 to 2009 with several teams in the league.  He was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1992 Entry Draft but only played in 37 games with the team before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres for Alexander Mogilny.  Peca emerged as a star player with the Sabres, excelling as a team leader as well as a defensive forward, winning the Frank J. Selke trophy in 1997 and 2002 when he captained the Sabres to the Stanley Cup Finals.  Mike Peca also played for the New York Islanders where he helped his team to the Stanley Cup Championships before an unfortunate knee injury ended his season.  He was traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he led his team to the Stanley Cup finals in 2006.  Peca also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Columbus Blue Jackets before announcing his retirement through the NHLPA in 2010.

Internationally, Mike Peca is a two-time gold medalist with Team Canada, winning gold at both the 1994 World Junior Championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics.

After his retirement, Peca was a head coach of the Buffalo Junior Sabres of the OJHL, winning the OJHL coach of the year.  He is currently the GM and Director of Hockey Operations for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.
