Learn More About Stan Mikita:
Stan Mikita is a Slovak-born hockey centre that played his entire career for the Chicago Blackhawks from 1958 to 1980. He quickly made an impact with the team and by his second full season he led the entire league in playoff goals, helping lead his team to a Stanley Cup victory.
Stan Mikita became one of the most feared centres of the 1960s. He became part of the “Scooter Line” and alongside superstar teammate Bobby Hull, the Blackhawks had the most powerful offense of the decade. Stan Mikita led the league in scoring 4 times during the 60s and tied Bobby Hull for first in the 1966-67 season. He won 2 Hart Memorial Trophies for MVP in 1967 and 1968. He won 4 Art Ross Trophies for leading goal scorer in 1964, 65, 67 and 1969.
Stan Mikita retired from hockey in 1980 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983. Mikita still remains 14th in NHL history in regular season scoring and 4th in games played for one team. The Chicago Blackhawks retired his #21 in 1980 and he was the first player to have his number retired by the Blackhawks.
