Wally Stanowski was a professional ice hockey player.  He was a defenseman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers.  Stanowski played from 1939-1951.

Stanowski was originally drafted by the Leafs in 1939.  With them he won four Stanley Cups in 1942, 1945, 1947 and 1948.  After his last Stanley Cup win, Stanowski was traded to the Rangers.  He played with them until 1951 when he retired.  Wally Stanowski passed away in 2015 and at the time of his death, Stanowski was marked the oldest surviving Maple Leaf.

A highlight of Stanowski’s career besides the Stanley Cup would be the Memorial Cup in 1938.  Stanowski was also a part of the All-Star Team in 1941 and played an All-Star game in 1947.

Wally Stanowski was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2004.  Stanowski is also considered an honoured member.
