Learn More about Adam Foote: Adam Foote was a former defenseman drafted twenty second overall in the 1989 NHL draft.  He signed with the Quebec Nordiques where he played until 1995 when the franchise relocated to Colorado to become the Avalanche.  In Colorado, he won two Stanley Cups, one in 1996 and the second in 2001.  In the 2005-2006 season, Foote signed on with the Columbus Blue Jackets after thirteen seasons with Colorado, here he was automatically assigned alternate captain until defenseman Luke Richardson stepped down from his captaincy in December 2005.  Three seasons later, Foote was traded back to Colorado for two conditional draft picks.  On June 28th, 2008, Foote signed again with Colorado for a two-year contract.  The first full season of this contract was cut short for Foote due to an injury resulting in him only playing 42 games.  Further injuries in the lineup resulted in Colorado finishing last in the Western Conference that year.  In the off-season captain Joe Sakic announced his retirement and Foote was chosen as his replacement in 2009.  In April 2011, Foote played his last game with Colorado before his retirement.  His jersey was retired by the Avalanche in 2013. Selke Trophies as the league’s best defensive forward from 1976-1979, the same years he helped lead his team to four Stanley Cup Championships. In 1982, Bob Gainey succeeded Serge Savard and became Captain of the Montreal Canadiens.  In 1986, he won his fifth career Stanley Cup and he announced his retirement the following year.  In all, Bob Gainey finished his career after 1160 regular season games with 239 goals and 263 assists.  He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992. After his retirement as a player, Bob Gainey went on to coach the Minnesota North Stars and also became the team’s general manager.  He received another Stanley Cup as GM of the Dallas Stars in 1999.  Gainey later on became general manager and interim coach for the Montreal Canadiens. Clarke quickly became an integral part of the Flyers team with his vision and playmaking skills, a strong work ethic and a thirst to win.  He was named Captain of the Philadelphia Flyers at the age of 23, the youngest captain in NHL history at the time. The 1975-76 season was record breaking for Clarke. Learn More about Don Cherry: Don Cherry is best known as the very outspoken commentator on the Coaches Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada.  He began his hockey journey as a player in the OHL and later moved on to the minor American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears.  He spent 20 years playing in the minors with only one call up to the Boston Bruins where he played in one playoff game in 1955.  He retired as a player but returned to the Rochester Americans a couple of years later.  Midway through the season, he began coaching the club and was awarded Coach of the Year in 1972. Having success in the minors, Don Cherry became head coach of the Boston Bruins in 1974.  He was an eccentric, flamboyant coach that encouraged the physical part of hockey and the team under Cherry’s leadership became known as “the Big Bad Bruins.”  He led the team to four straight division championships and in 1976 won the Jack Adams Award for coach of the year.  He was also coach of Team Canada during the 1976 Canada Cup. Doug Gilmour was drafted into the NHL in 1982 by the St. Louis Blues.  He quickly earned the nickname “Killer” due to his aggressive physical style of play despite his smaller stature.  Gilmour was part of the largest trade in NHL history bringing him from Calgary to Toronto where he immediately helped to revitalize the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs. Gilmour broke both personal and franchise scoring records with the Leafs in his first full season with the organization and ultimately led them to finish the 1992-93 season with the eighth best record in the NHL and their first winning season since 1978-79.  Gilmour was one of the most popular players on the Leafs during tenure.   Despite his status as fan favorite, Gilmour was traded in 1997 to the New Jersey Devils and subsequently played for the Chicago Blackhawks.  With the Blackhawks, Gilmour returned to Toronto to play the last game in historic Maple Leaf Garden receiving a standing ovation by the Toronto fans during the Garden’s closing ceremonies.  After a few more trades, Gilmour returned to Toronto where he played only one game before an injury caused him to miss the remainder of the season.  Gilmour officially announced his retirement on September 8, 2003.  Gilmour had scored 450 goals and 964 assists in 1474 games over his 20 year NHL career. On January 31, 2009 Gilmour’s number 93 was raised to the rafters by the Toronto Maple Leafs and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

Learn More About Harry Sinden: Harry Sinden has spent over 50 years as part of the Boston Bruins organization in varying roles starting from player, head coach to general manager, president and senior advisor to the club’s owner.   Sinden was a great defenseman but he never played in the NHL. He played defence for the minor team, Toronto Marlboro Bantams and then in the Ontario Hockey League on the Oshawa Generals from 1949 to 1953. After playing with Oshawa, Sinden played six seasons with the Whitby Dunlops who he captained in 1957 when the Dunlops won the Allan Cup. Also he won a silver medal in the 1960 Olympics as part of the Canadian National Men's Hockey Team. Harry Sinden coached minor league hockey for six seasons starting in 1960 and became head coach of the Boston Bruins in 1966.  Sinden was the youngest coach in the league at age 33 and the team finished with the worst record in the league his first season. Sinden got increasingly better and in the 1969-1970 season, Sinden coached the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Championship, their first in 29 years. Sinden retired from coaching just after the Bruins won the Cup due to his rocky relationship with Bruins management.  He was named head coach and manager of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series despite spending two years away from hockey.  After the successful Summit Series, he was offered the position of General Manager of the Bruins—a position he held for 28 years.  Sinden remained with the Bruins as President.  During his reign, the Boston Bruins had 30 consecutive playoff appearances.   Harry Sinden was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 as a builder. Learn More About Jocelyn Guevremont: From 1967-1971 Jocelyn Guevremont played for the minor leagues in Montreal where he was a distinguished young defenseman, playing on both Second and First All-Star teams in consecutive years. In 1971 he won the Max Kaminsky Trophy for most outstanding defenseman in the OHL.  Later that year he was chosen third overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1971 NHL Entry Draft.  Over the course of nine seasons he played for the Canucks, the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers.  In 1972 he played for Team Canada in the Summit Series and in 1974 he played in a NHL All-Star team.  He retired in 1980 due to a chronic shoulder problem.  He coached briefly for two teams in the QMJHL until 1984.
