He made his NHL debut for the Lightning on October 3, 2009 where he registered his first NHL assist. Hedman would quickly become a force to be reckoned with by the 2013-2014 season when he posted 13 goals and 42 assists for a career best 55 points. During the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hedman set Lightning records for career playoff assists (20) and points (23) by a defenseman. In 2016, he became leader in playoff games played for the Lightning franchise. In 2017, Hedman became the first defenseman in Lightning history to reach 70 points in a season, joining the ranks of Borje Salming, Nicklas Lidstrom and Erik Karlsson as the only Swedish defenseman to reach 70-point seasons. Internationally, Victor Hedman plays for Sweden. He played in the 2007 World U18 Championship winning bronze. Two World Junior Championships in 2008 and 2009 winning silver in both.
