Learn More About Pete Stemkowski: Pete Stemkowski is a professional ice hockey player that played for fifteen seasons in the NHL.  Stemkowski played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.  One of the milestones in his career was winning the Stanley Cup with the Leafs in 1967. Stemkowski played for the Leafs at the beginning of his career but was traded late during the 1967-1968 season.  He played with Detroit, he even achieved a 20-goal season.  Stemkowski was traded to the Rangers before the 1970-1971 season.  He played seven seasons.  Stemkowski had a fine first season which set the tone for his seven seasons of success with the Rangers.  This also included three straight 20 goal seasons. That same year he won both the Vezina Trophy for best goalie and the Hart Memorial Trophy for league MVP.  He also played in the All-Star games from 1984-1986 as well as 1988 and 1989.  In 1991 Fuhr was traded to Toronto and then again to Buffalo.  In 1993-1994 he had a successful season that resulted in a William M. Jari Kurri was the first Finnish player to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.  He finished his career as the highest scoring European born player in the NHL with 601 goals, 797 assists and 1398 points.  He is third in all time play off points with 106 goals and 233 playoff points behind Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier.  His number 17 has been retired by not only the Edmonton Oilers but also the Finnish National Team and team Jokeritof the first Finnish KHL league. Rogie Vachon was traded to the Los Angeles King where he played from 1971 to 1978 where he celebrated some of the best moments of his career.  He was team MVP for 4 consecutive years starting in 1973.  He was runner up for the Vezina Trophy in 1975 and he was selected for NHL Second All-Star Team in 1975 and 1977.  Vachon was considered one of the best one-to-one goaltenders in his era and he never allowed a single goal on a penalty shot for his entire career.  Rogie Vachon was honoured by the Los Angeles Kings as his was the first number retired by the franchise in 1985.  Following his retirement as a player, Rogie Vachon continued to serve the LA Kings as GM from 1984-1992.  He was interim head coach on 3 separate occasions.  Vachon continues to serve as Royal Ambassador for the Kings.
