Rod Seiling was an NHL defenceman whose playing career spanned from 1962 to 1979. Seiling began his junior career as a winger but became a defenceman when he made the NHL. He played one game in the NHL for the Leafs before being sent down to the minors where he played for 2 different teams over the next couple of seasons before being traded to the New York Rangers where he played for the next decade. He was a good stay at home defenceman. He was claimed by the St. Louis Blues during the expansion draft but the Rangers traded for him the same day to keep him in New York. In 1974, he played for 3 different teams; the Rangers, the Washington Capitals and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played for the St. Louis Blues and Atlanta Flames before his retirement in 1979.
Rod Seiling also represented Canada in the 1972 Summit Series where he played in three games.
After his retirement as a player, Rod Seiling became a junior hockey coach. In 2006, Seiling was appointed Chair of the Ontario Racing Commission.
