He finished the season with 51 goals, tied with Sydney Crosby, they both shared the Rocket Richard Trophy as league goal-scoring champions. His 95 points of the season put him 5th overall in the NHL. By the 2011-12 season, Stamkos earned his second 50 goal season becoming the 6th player in NHL history to do so by the age of 23. Worsley played in the minor leagues for 4 years and didn't enter the NHL until he was 24 years old. He won the Calder Memorial trophy and was the Rookie of the Year, in 1952, when he joined the NHL and played for the New York Rangers. In 1954 he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks of the WHL where he won Most Valuable Player. In 1954, he returned to the New York Rangers as a starting goaltender beating out future star Johnny Bower for the op spot. Gump Worsley spent nine seasons with the New York Rangers before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 1963. Gump Worsley's best years were spent with the Montreal Canadiens where he was a part of four Stanley Cup winning teams in 1965, 1966, 1968 and 1969. In 1968, Worsley went undefeated in the play-offs with 11 straight wins. Worsley retired in the middle of the 1969-1970 due to the team's travel schedule and his fear of flying. Worsley was coaxed out of retirement by the Minnesota North Stars due to their less demanding travel schedule and their sweetened deal of a $500 bonus per win, and $250 per tie and $100 per shut out. Worsley spent four more years in the NHL before retiring at age 44. He was one of the last players to adopt the hockey mask. Upon his retirement, Gump Worsley was third among all NHL goaltenders in games played. He retired with a record of 335 wins, 352 losses and 150 ties, with 43 shutouts, and a goals against average of 2.91. Gump Worsley was added to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1980. Learn More about Rogie Vachon: Rogie Vachon was an NHL goaltender that was active from 1965-1982 playing for the Montreal Canadiens, LA Kings, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins. Vachon entered the NHL as backup goaltender for the Canadiens but his playoff success ensured him a spot on the team roster. Vachon went on to win the Vezina Trophy with teammate Gump Worsley the following season as the lead the team to two back to back Stanley Cup Championships in 1968 and 1969 and a third in 1971. Rogie Vachon was traded to the Los Angeles King where he played from 1971 to 1978 where he celebrated some of the best moments of his career. He was team MVP for 4 consecutive years starting in 1973. He was runner up for the Vezina Trophy in 1975 and he was selected for NHL Second All-Star Team in 1975 and 1977. Vachon was considered one of the best one-to-one goaltenders in his era and he never allowed a single goal on a penalty shot for his entire career. Rogie Vachon was honoured by the Los Angeles Kings as his was the first number retired by the franchise in 1985. Following his retirement as a player, Rogie Vachon continued to serve the LA Kings as GM from 1984-1992. He was interim head coach on 3 separate occasions. Lafleur had a slow start when he joined the NHL but had found his groove by 1974, becoming the first player in the NHL to score 50 goals and 100 points in 6 straight seasons. He helped the Canadiens win 5 Stanley Cups in 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1979. Lafleur is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Canadiens with 518 goals and 728 assists in 14 years. He holds the franchise record for 136 points in a season in 1976-77. Guy Lafleur was a fan favorite, nicknamed “the Flower” by English speakers and “Le Demon Blond” (the Blond Demon) by French speakers. Following the 1979 season, several key players retired and the Canadiens’ winning streak came to an end. Injuries both on and off the ice, shortened Lafleur’s season and his production dropped significantly. During the 1984-85 season, Lafleur was unhappy with the ice time he received and asked to be traded. GM Serge Savard refused his request and Lafleur decided to retire. Lafleur was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988. Guy Lafleur briefly returned to the NHL after his induction to the Hall of Fame, one of only three players to do so—Gordie Howe before him and Mario Lemieux after.
