Learn More About Pete Stemkowski: Pete Stemkowski is a professional ice hockey player that played for fifteen seasons in the NHL.  Stemkowski played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.  One of the milestones in his career was winning the Stanley Cup with the Leafs in 1967. Stemkowski played for the Leafs at the beginning of his career but was traded late during the 1967-1968 season.  He played with Detroit, he even achieved a 20-goal season.  Stemkowski was traded to the Rangers before the 1970-1971 season.  He played seven seasons.  Stemkowski had a fine first season which set the tone for his seven seasons of success with the Rangers.  This also included three straight 20 goal seasons. After his seven seasons Stemkowski was traded to Los Angeles.  With them Stemkowski finished his NHL career, playing only a season with the Kings. Some highlights of Stemkowski’s career would be the winning of the Stanley Cup in 1967, the Memorial Cup in 1964 and Stemkowski also played with the All Star Team in 1968. Learn More About Eddie Mio: Eddie Mio was a professional ice hockey player.  He played in the NHL and WHA as a goaltender.  During his career, Mio played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and the Indianapolis Racers. Mio first put himself on the map for professional hockey when he decided to join the Colorado College from 1972-1976.  During that time Mio became a standout as he won first and second all-star awards.  He also made the NCAA west first all-American team two years in a row.  In 1974, Mio was officially drafted by the Blackhawks and the Blazers of the WHA but he played with neither and spent most of his time playing with smaller teams until he went to the Indianapolis Racers. Mio's goaltending was rough with the Racers and the biggest thing in his career would be befriending Wayne Gretzky.  Shortly after that Mio was traded again to the Oilers in 1978.  In Alberta, Mio got his first NHL action and had his first winning season in 1980-1981 before being traded again to the Rangers.  With New York Mio backstopped the Rangers for two seasons, then he was traded to Detroit for a season before retiring in 1986. Learn More About Reggie Leach: Reggie Leach is a professional right-winger who played 13 seasons in the NHL.  He played for the Boston Bruins, California Golden Seals, Philadelphia Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings.  Leach was originally drafted by Boston in 1970.  He played two seasons with them but was traded along with Rick Smith and Bob Stewart to California.  After playing three seasons with California, Leach was traded to Philadelphia for Larry Wright, Al MacAdam and Ron Chipperfield in 1974.  Leach won the Stanley Cup with Philadelphia in the 1974-75 season.  After a few seasons with Philadelphia, Leach played his last season with the Red Wings then retired. Learn More about Johnny Bucyk: Johnny Bucyk was an NHL left winger whose career spanned 23 years from 1955-1978 mostly with the Boston Bruins.  His first two years in the NHL were played with the Detroit Red Wings before a trade for Terry Sawchuk landed Bucyk in a Bruins uniform in 1957.  He became part of the Uke Line with fellow Canadian-Ukranian born players Vic Stasiuk and Bronco Horvath who were his linemates on the Junior Edmonton Oil Kings. Learn More about Mark Howe: Mark Howe was a professional hockey player that played in both the WHA and the NHL for 22 seasons.  He is the son of the legendary Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe and brother of Marty Howe.  Mark played left wing for the Houston Aeros of the WHA as linemate to his brother Marty and father Gordie who came out of retirement to play alongside his two sons.  The Howes led their team to the 1974 and 1975 Avco Cups—the WHA version of the Stanley Cup.  Mark also won the Lou Kaplan Trophy as Rookie of the Year.  The Howe family moved to the New England Whalers which became the Hartford Whalers when the WHA and NHL merged.  The Howes played one more season together in the NHL. Mark Howe was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982 and by then he had become a full-time defenseman.  The 1985-1986 season was a career season for Mark where he put up some of the best numbers ever by an NHL defenseman with 24 goals and 58 assists for 82 points.  Despite Mark Howe’s contribution, the injury-riddled Flyers were not playoff contenders. After the 1991-1992 season, Mark Howe signed with the Detroit Red Wings, his father’s former team in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup.  Unfortunately, the Red Wings were swept by the New Jersey Devils in the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals. Following his retirement as a player, Howe remained with the Detroit Red Wings as a video coach and pro scout, earning Stanley Cup rings in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008.  Mark Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and is the second father-son duo in hockey history to receive the honor after Bobby and Brett Hull.
