Learn More about Scott Niedermayer: Scott Niedermayer spent 18 seasons in the NHL playing Defencefor the New Jersey Devils and the Anaheim Ducks. He was selected 3rd overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils where he played until 2005, winning 3 Stanley Cup Championships with the Devils in 1995, 2000 and 2003. Scott Niedermayer was also voted the top defenceman in the NHL in 2003-04, when he was the recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy. In 2005, as an unrestricted free agent, Scott Niedermayer signed with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup Championship with his brother Rob. Scott was immediately named captain of the Ducks and in 2007 achieved a Stanley Cup win alongside his brother-the first Stanley Cup win for the Ducks’ franchise. He was named MVP of the playoffs and won the Conn Smythe Memorial Trophy. Scott Niedermayer represented Team Canada internationally and is a 5 time gold medalist along with one silver medal. He is a member of the Triple Gold Club with a Stanley Cup, World Championship and Olympic Gold Medals. After his retirement as a player, Scott Niedermayer became a Special Assignment Coach with the Anaheim Ducks. His number 27 was retired by the New Jersey Devils and he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013. Martin Brodeur made his NHL debut in the 1991-92 season when he was called up on an emergency basis from the AHL, where he played 4 games. He returned to the NHL as a permanent player in the 1993-94 season and subsequently won the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year. Martin Brodeur has his own unique style of goaltending and is also known for his puck handling, positional play and reflexes. In the 2005-06 season, the league instituted a new rule preventing goaltenders from playing the puck behind the goal line except for the trapezoid shaped zone directly behind the net. This became known as the Brodeur Rule. Martin Brodeur is widely regarded as one of the greatest goaltenders in the NHL. Playing most of his career for the New Jersey Devils, Brodeur holds numerous NHL and franchise records including all-time regular season wins (691), shut outs (125) and games played (1266). He is the only goalie in NHL history to have 8 40-win seasons. During his 21 seasons with the Devils, Brodeur has won 3 Stanley Cup, 5 Eastern Conference Titles and appeared in 10 All-Star Games. In 2014, Brodeur was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues. He only played 7 games with the Blues before announcing his retirement in January 2015. Learn More about Claude Lemieux: Claude Lemieux is a retired NHL winger whose 10 year NHL career was highlighted by four Stanley Cup Championships. He began his NHL career playing for his hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens who drafted him in 1983. He played for the Habs for seven seasons winning his first Cup in 1986. In 1990, Lemieux was dealt to the New Jersey Devils where he shined in the 1995 post season contributing 13 goals to the Devils Stanley Cup Championship winning the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP. The next season he played for the Colorado Avalanche where he won his third Stanley Cup becoming only the 10th player in the NHL to win back to back Cups with different teams. He was traded back to the Devils in 1999 where he won his final career Stanley Cup. Throughout his career, Claude Lemieux had a reputation as one of the dirtiest players in the league. He antagonized the other team and would do whatever it takes to win a hockey game. It is largely believed that Lemieux sparked the bitter rivalry between the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche during the 1996 playoffs. He checked Kris Draper from behind pushing him head first into the boards leading to a concussion, broken jaw, nose and cheekbones. Tensions rose into the next season between the two teams leading to a bench clearing brawl that culminated in Lemieux being badly beaten by Darren McCarty before officials could remove him. Claude Lemieux retired from the NHL in 2003 although he did attempt a comeback in 2008 where he played for the San Jose Sharks.
