Learn more about Martin Brodeur here: Martin Brodeur was a first round draft pick (20th overall) in the 1990 NHL entry draft by the New Jersey Devils. Martin Brodeur made his NHL debut in the 1991-92 season when he was called up on an emergency basis from the AHL, where he played 4 games. He returned to the NHL as a permanent player in the 1993-94 season and subsequently won the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year. Martin Brodeur has his own unique style of goaltending and is also known for his puck handling, positional play and reflexes. In the 2005-06 season, the league instituted a new rule preventing goaltenders from playing the puck behind the goal line except for the trapezoid shaped zone directly behind the net. This became known as the Brodeur Rule. Martin Brodeur is widely regarded as one of the greatest goaltenders in the NHL. Playing most of his career for the New Jersey Devils, Brodeur holds numerous NHL and franchise records including all-time regular season wins (691), shut outs (125) and games played (1266). He is the only goalie in NHL history to have 8 40-win seasons. During his 21 seasons with the Devils, Brodeur has won 3 Stanley Cup, 5 Eastern Conference Titles and appeared in 10 All-Star Games. In 2014, Brodeur was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues. He only played 7 games with the Blues before announcing his retirement in January 2015. In 1991, Kirk Muller was traded to the Montreal Canadiens where he quickly became a fan favourite, helping the Habs win the Stanley Cup in 1993. His time in Montreal was short-lived when he was traded to the New York Islanders during the 1994-1995 season. Kirk Muller made it well known that he did not want to play for the Islanders. He reluctantly reported to and played in a handful of games before he walked out on the team, forcing a trade. He was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was reunited with his former Habs’ coach Pat Burns. Muller didn’t produce for the Leafs as expected as he was slowing with age. He was traded to the Florida Panthers where he became a leader in the dressing room, more so than on the ice where his offensive production was all but gone. Muller struggled in Florida and was traded to the Dallas Stars in the middle of the 1999-2000 season. He became part of the “Grumpy Old Men” line with Mike Keane and John MacLean. After 4 seasons in Dallas, Muller retired at the end of the 2002-2003 season. Following his retirement as a player, Muller returned to the Habs as an assistant coach from 2006 to 2011. He was a coach of the Carolina Hurricanes from 2011-2014 and assistant coach of the St. Louis Blues from2014-2016. He is currently an associate coach of the Montreal Canadiens. History has indicated that wherever he went, the team was competitive. The more that was on the line in big games, the better Joe played." He was an offensive centre in Calgary and power play specialist, able to withstand the physical punishment required to stand in front of the net and battle defencemen for the puck. He led the NHL in power play goals in 1987–88 with 31 and finished in the top ten on four other occasions.
