Kennedy joined the Leafs full-time in the 1943-44 season where he became part of the Kid Line II, consisting of Howie Meeker and Vic Lynn. The Kid Line II later became known as KLM and Kennedy came out a top goal scorer with the team. Teeder Kennedy helped to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to 3 consecutive Stanley Cups from 1947-1949. He became captain of the Leafs, a title he held for 8 seasons. Kennedy became the first player in NHL history to win 5 Stanley Cup Championships and the last Toronto Maple Leaf to win the Hart Trophy for MVP. Kennedy never wanted to play for another team and he retired a Toronto Maple Leaf in 1957. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966. He represented the United States in the World Junior Championships and then played for the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1985-1987 and the Rangers drafted him that year as well. Richter represented the United States in the World Junior Champion in 1986 as well as the World Champions and the 1988 Calgary Olympics before making his NHL debut with the Rangers in 1989 playoffs. Vanbiesbrouk was selected by the Florida Panthers which is why Richter had his first campaign as the team’s number one goalie. He posted a career best with 42 wins and a 2.57 goals-against-average. The Rangers also won the President Trophy for the second time in a row and Richter was named MVP of the NHL All Star Game. Perreault played with the Sabres from their inaugural season leading the team in scoring with 38 goals and 34 assists to win the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year. Known as one of the most gifted playmakers of all time, Perreault was the center of the high scoring “French Connection” line, with wingers Rick Martin and Rene Roberts. The exciting trio were the top three goal scorers for the Sabres as well as top 10 overall in the NHL. Gilbert Perreault was not only a gifted stickhandler but a gentleman on the ice, winning the Lady Byng Trophy in 1973. Internationally, Perreault was a part of Team Canada and played in the 1972 Summit Series. Ron Hextall brought a new style of goaltending to the NHL because he liked to come out of the net and play the puck, lending support to his team’s defensemen. Hextall was also a very aggressive goalie which lead to three suspensions of 6 or more games throughout his career. He had more than 100 penalty minute in each of his first three seasons and set NHL records for penalty minutes by a goaltender. Hextall was an excellent stick handler and became the first NHL goalie to score a goal, not once but twice, once against the Bruins on an empty net and again against the Capitals. Learn More about Ron Hextall: Ron Hextall was an NHL goaltender that was active in the NHL from 1984-1999, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Quebec Nordiques and the New York Islanders. Hextall is a third generation NHL player-the grandson of Hall of Famer Bryan Hextall (NY Rangers) and son of Bryan Hextall Jr. who played in the NHL for 10 seasons, mainly for the Pittsburgh Penguins. His uncle, Dennis Hextall spent 14 seasons in the NHL. Ron Hextall brought a new style of goaltending to the NHL because he liked to come out of the net and play the puck, lending support to his team’s defensemen. Hextall was also a very aggressive goalie which lead to three suspensions of 6 or more games throughout his career. He had more than 100 penalty minute in each of his first three seasons and set NHL records for penalty minutes by a goaltender. Hextall was an excellent stick handler and became the first NHL goalie to score a goal, not once but twice, once against the Bruins on an empty net and again against the Capitals. Ron Hextall played his first four NHL seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers. A combination of injures and suspensions let Hextall to be traded to the Quebec Nordiques in 1992 as part of the Eric Lindros trade when Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques who drafted him first overall in the 1991 Entry Draft. Hextall helped the Nordiques reach the playoffs and was again traded the following season to the New York Islander where he played one season before being sent back to the Flyers. Hextall helped the Flyers to the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. At the end of the 1998-1998 season, Hextall was waived by the Flyers and went undrafted in the expansion draft. He announced his retirement on September 6, 1999. After his retirement as a player, Ron Hextall became a Flyers scout and eventually worked his way up to General Manger of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2014.
