Sadly, Bernie Parent’s career was cut short in 1979 when he took a stick to his right eye causing temporary blindness. He made the NHL that year and was nominated to the NHL All Rookie Team. He played 2 seasons with the Whalers before he was traded to the St. Louis Blues. Chris Pronger flourished with the Blues and by his third season was named team captain. 1999-2000 was a career season for Pronger where he accumulated 62 points and won the Norris Trophy for league’s top defenseman and the Hart Memorial Trophy for NHL MVP.
