Learn More about Rod Gilbert: Rod Gilbert was an NHL right winger that played his entire career from 1960-1978 with the New York Rangers.  He was part of the GAG line (Goal a Game) alongside teammates Vic Hadfield and Jean Ratelle.  Despite never having won a Stanley Cup, Rod Gilbert is ranked #2 on the all-time list of New York Rangers.  He won a Bill Masterson trophy for his perseverance and dedication to hockey.  During his junior career, Gilbert slipped on garbage thrown on the ice causing him to break a vertebra in his back which led him to be temporarily paralyzed.  He underwent numerous surgeries and played through constant pain.  He was a fan favorite that made eight All-Star Game appearances.  His number (#7) was the first number to be raised to the rafters by the Rangers.  Rod Gilbert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982.
