He was selected 3rd overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils where he played until 2005, winning 3 Stanley Cup Championships with the Devils in 1995, 2000 and 2003. Scott Niedermayer was also voted the top defenceman in the NHL in 2003-04, when he was the recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy. In 2005, as an unrestricted free agent, Scott Niedermayer signed with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup Championship with his brother Rob. Scott was immediately named captain of the Ducks and in 2007 achieved a Stanley Cup win alongside his brother-the first Stanley Cup win for the Ducks’ franchise. He was named MVP of the playoffs and won the Conn Smythe Memorial Trophy. Scott Niedermayer represented Team Canada internationally and is a 5 time gold medalist along with one silver medal. He is a member of the Triple Gold Club with a Stanley Cup, World Championship and Olympic Gold Medals. After his retirement as a player, Scott Niedermayer became a Special Assignment Coach with the Anaheim Ducks. His number 27 was retired by the New Jersey Devils and he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
