Mark Howe Autographed Photo-Detroit Red Wings 8x10 Photo This hand signed 8x10 photo has been personally autographed by Mark Howe. Included with your purchase is a Certificate of Authenticity from Slap Shot Signatures. Learn More about Mark Howe: Mark Howe was a professional hockey player that played in both the WHA and the NHL for 22 seasons. He is the son of the legendary Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe and brother of Marty Howe. Mark played left wing for the Houston Aeros of the WHA as linemate to his brother Marty and father Gordie who came out of retirement to play alongside his two sons. The Howes led their team to the 1974 and 1975 Avco Cups—the WHA version of the Stanley Cup. Mark also won the Lou Kaplan Trophy as Rookie of the Year. The Howe family moved to the New England Whalers which became the Hartford Whalers when the WHA and NHL merged. The Howes played one more season together in the NHL. Mark Howe was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982 and by then he had become a full-time defenseman. The 1985-1986 season was a career season for Mark where he put up some of the best numbers ever by an NHL defenseman with 24 goals and 58 assists for 82 points. Despite Mark Howe’s contribution, the injury riddled Flyers were not playoff contenders. After the 1991-1992 season, Mark Howe signed with the Detroit Red Wings, his father’s former team in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, the Red Wings were swept by the New Jersey Devils in the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals. Following his retirement as a player, Howe remained with the Detroit Red Wings as a video coach and pro scout, earning Stanley Cup rings in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008. Mark Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and is the second father-son duo in hockey history to receive the honor after Bobby and Brett Hull. Learn More About Milt Schmidt: Milt Schmidt was a great centre who played 16 years in the NHL, from 1936-1942 and 1945-1955. Schmidt played junior hockey with his two friends Woody Dumart and Bobby Bauer until their rights were acquired by the Boston Bruins. Although Schmidt's rights were acquired in 1935, he did not start to play with the Bruins until 1937. Even in the NHL, Schmidt, Dumart and Bauer still played with each other and they formed the mighty Kraut Line. The Kraut Line was key factor to the Bruins success, and they won a Stanley Cup in 1939. The next year was one of Schmidt’s greatest seasons as he came out leading the league in scoring, he guided the Bruins to another first place and the team finished with the third most goals in team history. Schmidt also won another Stanley Cup in 1941. Schmidt missed three seasons after this because he, Dumart and Bauer enlisted in the Canadian Military during World War II from 1942-1945. However, before going overseas Schmidt played with Ottawa on the RCAF team and won the Allan Cup. Schmidt came back to the NHL in 1946 and he proved he was still a skilled goal scorer, finishing fourth in the league in scoring in 1947. He won the Hart Trophy for league MVP and was named captain of the Bruins in 1951. He retired part way through the 1954-1955 season to become coach of the Boston Bruins. He coached the Bruins for 11 seasons before becoming the team's General Manager. He won the Stanley Cup in 1970 and 1972 as a Manager. He later became the general manager of Washington Capitals in 1974. Milt Schmidt was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961. He passed away in January 2017 at the age of 98.
