Learn More about Al MacInnis: Al MacInnis was a legendary defenseman that was best known for super hard slapshots.  MacInnis was drafted in the first round, 15th overall by the Calgary Flames in 1981.  He went on to play 23 seasons in the NHL, with the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues.  He was a 13 time All-Star and 7-time winner of the All-Star games’ Hardest Shot competition.  MacInnis played an instrumental role in his teams’ 1989 Stanley Cup Championship and was the recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP.  He left the Flames after 11 seasons and was the leader in scoring with 822 points, 603 assists and 803 games played. Al MacInnis was traded to the St. Louis Blues where he continued to excel as a high scoring defenseman.  He was awarded the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the leagues’ best defenseman in 1999.  Unfortunately, MacInnis’ career was cut short due to a series of eye injuries that led him to retire in 2005.  Ending his career with 1,274 points, MacInnis ranked third all-time in goals, assists and points amongst defensemen.  He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007 and his number was retired by the Blues and raised to the rafters by the Flames.  Following his retirement as a player, Al MacInnis remained with the Blues organization and serviced as Vice-President of Hockey Operations. Learn More about Alex Delvecchio: Alex Delvecchio was an NHL center and left winger that played his entire 24 season career with the Detroit Red Wings.  He began his playing career in 1950 and in the 1951-52 season became a full-time team member, winning the Stanley Cup in his rookie season.  He was part of the high scoring Production Line with Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay.  He won his second and third Stanley Cup in 1954 and 1955. Although Alex Delvecchio was a top goal scorer and gifted playmaker, he was best known as a classy player and true gentleman.  He was a three time recipient of the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanlike conduct.  He was well liked by his teammates which led to him being named captain of the Red Wings from 1962 until he retired as a player in 1974.  At the conclusion of his career, he had played 1549 regular season games with 456 goals, 825 assists and 1281 points.  His number 10 was retired by the Red Wings and he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
