He played only 29 games for the Montreal Canadiens before being traded mid-season to the Blackhawks. He posted 40 points in 40 games and won the Calder Memorial Trophy. Litzenberger was named Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks in 1957-58 and he led his team to their first Stanley Cup Championship (since 1938) in 1961. Despite winning the Cup, Ed Litzenberger was traded to the Detroit Red Wings the following season where he played only 32 games before being traded again to the Toronto Maple Leafs. With the Leaf, Ed Litzenberger won 3 consecutive Stanley Cup Championships, becoming only 1 of 3 players (Al Arbour and Claude Lemieux) to win consecutive cups with different teams. Ed Litzenberger spent the final years of his career in the AHL where he won 2 Calder Cups with the Rochester Americans. With the Blackhawks, he was part of the Clydesdale line with wingers Troy Murray and Curtis Fraser, a nickname given to them because each one weighed in at 200 plus pounds. In 1987, he was traded to Toronto and in 1990 he was traded again to the Winnipeg Jets. In 1992 he became a member of the New York Rangers where he was part of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Ed Olczyk played for the Jets a second time, with the Kings and Penguins before ending his career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2000. Following his playing career Ed Olczyk became a color analyst for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He served as head coach of the Penguins from 2003-2005. He is currently a color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks . In August 2017, Ed Olczyk was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. In his first season with the NHL, Laprade earned 34 points in 49 games and won the Calder Memorial Trophy for rookie of the year. He made four All-Star game appearances throughout his career. After this his career was a bit jumpy. In 1993, he was traded to the Rangers for a season. In the summer of 1997 Tikkanen became a free agent but soon signed a contract with the Panthers which was also a short stay as he was traded to the Capitals. He is known for his iconic stitch pattern goal tender mask that was the first custom mask of the era. Every time the mask spared Cheevers from getting stitches, more stitches were added to the mask. Gerry Cheevers was a “flopping style” goaltender that was often down on his knees and relied on his body to block the puck. He often acted as a third defenseman, coming out of the crease to prevent the goal.
