Learn more about Michel Goulet: Michel Goulet is a legendary left winger the played in the NHL from 1978-1994.  He began his career in the WHA playing for the Birmingham Bulls where he collected 58 points.  Following the WHA-NHL merger the following year Michel Goulet was eligible for the 1979 Entry Draft where he was chosen 20th overall by his hometown team, the Quebec Nordiques. Michel Goulet was one of the best snipers of the 80s, having 4 consecutive 50 goal seasons.  During his 11 seasons as a Nordique, Goulet finished top 10 in scoring and was elected to 5 All-Star Games.  Goulet was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks where he would play for another 4 seasons.  Sadly, Michel Goulet's career was cut short when a crash into the boards resulted in a severe head injury. Despite, his early retirement as a player, Michel Goulet continued his career in the NHL as a Director of Player Personnel for the Colorado Avalanche, winning a Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001.  His number 16 was retired by the Quebec Nordiques and he was Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame alongside teammate Peter Stasny in 1998. Learn More about Rogie Vachon: Rogie Vachon was an NHL goaltender that was active from 1965-1982 playing for the Montreal Canadiens, LA Kings, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins.  Vachon entered the NHL as backup goaltender for the Canadiens but his playoff success ensured him a spot on the team roster.  Vachon went on to win the Vezina Trophy with teammate Gump Worsley the following season as the lead the team to two back to back Stanley Cup Championships in 1968 and 1969 and a third in 1971. Learn More About Cam Neely: Cam Neely was a right winger that was drafted into the NHL by the Vancouver Canucks in 1983, ninth overall.  He played 3 seasons with the Canucks before being traded to the Boston Bruins. Neely joining the Bruins was turning point in his career where he was given more opportunity to play and a chance to contribute offensively, not just physically.  His first full season following the trade, Neely led the club with 36 goals and finishing the season with 72 points, more than doubling his previous year’s performance.  Neely’s success stemmed from not only his quick, powerful shots on goal but his also his physical play and devastating body checks.  He became a power forward for the Bruins and earned the nickname “Bam-Bam Cam.”  His first season with the Bruins ended with 143 minutes in the penalty box. Sadly, Neely’s career was cut short due to repeated knee injuries and a degenerative hip condition at the age of 31.  However,  he did have some remarkable scoring achievements.  Only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Brett Hull scored a better goals per game average over the course of a season.  He reached the 50 goal mark 3 times and played in 5 All-Star Games.  His intense effort to return to the NHL despite the injuries earned him a Masterson Trophy and the Boston Bruins honored him by raising his number 8 to the rafters on January 12, 2004.

Lafleur is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Canadiens with 518 goals and 728 assists in 14 years.  He holds the franchise record for 136 points in a season in 1976-77.  Guy Lafleur was a fan favorite, nicknamed “the Flower” by English speakers and “Le Demon Blond” (the Blond Demon) by French speakers. Following the 1979 season, several key players retired and the Canadiens’ winning streak came to an end.  Injuries both on and off the ice, shortened Lafleur’s season and his production dropped significantly.  During the 1984-85 season, Lafleur was unhappy with the ice time he received and asked to be traded.  GM Serge Savard refused his request and Lafleur decided to retire.  Lafleur was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
