Learn More about Chris Pronger:

Chris Pronger was one of the most dominant and feared defensemen during his NHL career which began in 1993 when he was drafted second overall by the Hartford Whalers.  He made the NHL that year and was nominated to the NHL All Rookie Team.  He played 2 seasons with the Whalers before he was traded to the St. Louis Blues.

Chris Pronger flourished with the Blues and by his third season was named team captain.  1999-2000 was a career season for Pronger where he accumulated 62 points and won the Norris Trophy for league’s top defenseman and the Hart Memorial Trophy for NHL MVP.

After 9 seasons Chris Pronger was traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he would play for only one season, leading his team to the Stanley Cup Finals.  The following season, Pronger was traded to the Anaheim Ducks where he was also named team captain, leading his team to the Stanley Cup Championship.

In June 2009, Chris Pronger was again traded to the Philadelphia Flyers where they would reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010.  Pronger was made captain in 2011 but by mid-December he was suffering post-concussion syndrome and problems with his right eye after being hit by a stick earlier in the season.  He would never again return to the ice.  Although his contract was traded to the Arizona Coyotes, he is not expected to play for the team.  Chris Pronger was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015 after playing in 1167 regular season NHL games with 157 goals, 541 assists and 1590 in penalty minutes.
