Evgeni Malkin began his career with his hometown club in Russia called Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Evgeni Malkin was drafted second overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2004 NHL Draft. Evgeni Malkin began playing for the Penguins in the 2006-07 season.
Evgeni Malkin won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL Rookie of the Year in 2006-07. In his second season with the club he helped lead the Penguins to the 2008 Stanley Cup final and was the runner up for the Hart Memorial Trophy.
