Learn More about Victor Hedman: Victor Hedman is a Swedish defenseman that was drafted 2^nd overall in 2009 by the Tampa Bay Lightning.  He made his NHL debut for the Lightning on October 3, 2009 where he registered his first NHL assist.  Hedman would quickly become a force to be reckoned with by the 2013-2014 season when he posted 13 goals and 42 assists for a career best 55 points.  During the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hedman set Lightning records for career playoff assists (20) and points (23) by a defenseman.  In 2016, he became leader in playoff games played for the Lightning franchise.  In 2017, Hedman became the first defenseman in Lightning history to reach 70 points in a season, joining the ranks of Borje Salming, Nicklas Lidstrom and Erik Karlsson as the only Swedish defenseman to reach 70-point seasons. Internationally, Victor Hedman plays for Sweden.  He played in the 2007 World U18 Championship winning bronze.  Two World Junior Championships in 2008 and 2009 winning silver in both.  He also played in the 2010 World Championships winning bronze and gold in 2017. In the off season, Hedman trains with the Sedin twins.  In an interview with Hockey News, Hedman reveals that he was a fan of Ray Bourque and his style of hockey, hence he chose to wear the number 77.
