Corson was a gritty power forward that provided steady offense and a strong leadership presence. He spent six seasons with the Montreal Canadiens before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers where he was made captain. After 3 seasons with the Oilers, Shayne Corson signed with the St. Louis Blues. After a season he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. Corson played three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs alongside brother-in-law Darcy Tucker. He played the final season of his NHL career with the Dallas Stars. At the end of his career, Shayne Corson had played in 1156 regular season games, with 693 points and 2357 penalty minutes. Learn More about Paul Henderson: Paul Henderson was a right winger that played in both the NHL and WHA for the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Atlanta Flames and the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls of the WHA. His playing career lasted from 1969 to 1981. Henderson was a consistent hockey player with quick feet and a hard shot and this led him to be chosen to the 1972 Summit Series. The 1972 Summit Series was an eight-game series between two great hockey nations, Canada and the Soviet Union. Taking place during the cold war era, the series was not just a battle on the ice but a battle of ideologies and a stand against communism. This series was a life changing event for Paul Henderson who scored the game-winning goal in the last three games of the series. Henderson scored “the goal” in game 8 with only 34 seconds to play to win the series for Canada. Paul Henderson became a national hero. He was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and in 2005 with the 1972 Summit Series team. He has a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame as well as becoming a member of Ontario’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was given the Order of Canada in 2012. Learn More about Vic Hadfield: Vic Hadfield made it to the NHL as a rugged enforcer for the New York Rangers in 1959. He posted triple digit penalty numbers and led the league in 1963-1964 with 151 penalty minutes. As Hadfield’s career progressed with the Rangers, he was put on the same line with Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert. This line would become known as the Goal a Game line and Hadfield’s focuses shifted scoring. Vic Hadfield was an example of one player doing it all as his points totals came closer to matching his penalty minutes. In 1971-1972, he had his career best season with 50 goals, 106 points and 142 PIM. He became captain of the New York Rangers the following season and was also chosen to play in the 1972 Summit Series. Hadfield was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for the start of the 1974 season where he played for 2 seasons before a knee injury ended his career.
