Learn More About Harry Sinden: Harry Sinden has spent over 50 years as part of the Boston Bruins organization in varying roles starting from player, head coach to general manager, president and senior advisor to the club’s owner. Sinden was a great defenseman but he never played in the NHL. He played defence for the minor team, Toronto Marlboro Bantams and then in the Ontario Hockey League on the Oshawa Generals from 1949 to 1953. After playing with Oshawa, Sinden played six seasons with the Whitby Dunlops who he captained in 1957 when the Dunlops won the Allan Cup. Also he won a silver medal in the 1960 Olympics as part of the Canadian National Men's Hockey Team. Harry Sinden coached minor league hockey for six seasons starting in 1960 and became head coach of the Boston Bruins in 1966. Sinden was the youngest coach in the league at age 33 and the team finished with the worst record in the league his first season. Sinden got increasingly better and in the 1969-1970 season, Sinden coached the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Championship, their first in 29 years. Sinden retired from coaching just after the Bruins won the Cup due to his rocky relationship with Bruins management. He was named head coach and manager of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series despite spending two years away from hockey. After the successful Summit Series, he was offered the position of General Manager of the Bruins—a position he held for 28 years. Sinden remained with the Bruins as President. Sakic became the captain of the franchise in 1992-93 reaching the 100-point plateau by collecting 105. The Quebec Nordiques relocated to Denver as the Colorado Avalanche beginning with the 1995-96 season. Joe Sakic accumulated 120 points and led the newly-relocated franchise to its first Stanley Cup championship. He was named winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after scoring 34 points that included six game-winning goals in 22 games. On December 27, 1999, Joe Sakic reached 1,000 career points. In 2000-01, he again reached the 100-point mark, finishing with 118 along with a career-best 54 goals. He was awarded the Hart Trophy and the Lester B. Learn More about John Ferguson: John Ferguson was an NHL winger and enforcer playing for the Montreal Canadiens during their glory years. His career was short, lasting only 8 seasons. He was recruited to act as an enforcer, protecting captain and hockey legend Jean Beliveau. Although known for his willingness to drop the gloves, John Ferguson was also an effective goal scorer, leading all NHL rookies in scoring in his first season and finishing as runner-up for the Calder Trophy. He won five Stanley Cups with the Canadiens in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969 and 1971. Following his retirement as a player, John Ferguson became an assistant coach for Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series. He later became head coach and general manager of the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets. In his later years, John Ferguson returned to his passion for horses by becoming general manager of the Windsor Raceway. He passed away from cancer in 2005. He played for Toronto from 1958-59 season to 1969-70 and was nicknamed the China Wall for his solid goaltending at an older age. Johnny Bower played for Toronto for 11 seasons, bringing home 3 Consecutive Stanley Cup victories in 1962, 1963 and 1964. Learn More about Johnny Bucyk: Johnny Bucyk was an NHL left winger whose career spanned 23 years from 1955-1978 mostly with the Boston Bruins. His first two years in the NHL were played with the Detroit Red Wings before a trade for Terry Sawchuk landed Bucyk in a Bruins uniform in 1957. He became part of the Uke Line with fellow Canadian-Ukranian born players Vic Stasiuk and Bronco Horvath who were his linemates on the Junior Edmonton Oil Kings. Johnny Bucyk set numerous records with the Bruins although some have since been surpassed by Ray Bourque including most seasons, most games, goals, assists and points. Bucyk ended his career as the 4th leading goal scorer in NHL history at the time with 545 goals. He was a defenseman that played for the Edmonton Oilers and the New York Rangers. Kevin Lowe was originally drafted in 1979 by the Edmonton Oilers. He played 13 full seasons with them. He was drafted second overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft after superstar Mario Lemieux. Muller was an enthusiastic athlete that put his heart and soul into every game and excelled at the physical play, forechecking and fishing the puck out of the corners. He was a natural leader and was named Captain Kirk by the New Jersey Devils. In 1991, Kirk Muller was traded to the Montreal Canadiens where he quickly became a fan favourite, helping the Habs win the Stanley Cup in 1993. His time in Montreal was short-lived when he was traded to the New York Islanders during the 1994-1995 season. Kirk Muller made it well known that he did not want to play for the Islanders. He reluctantly reported to and played in a handful of games before he walked out on the team, forcing a trade. He was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was reunited with his former Habs’ coach Pat Burns. Muller didn’t produce for the Leafs as expected as he was slowing with age. He was traded to the Florida Panthers where he became a leader in the dressing room, more so than on the ice where his offensive production was all but gone. Muller struggled in Florida and was traded to the Dallas Stars in the middle of the 1999-2000 season. He became part of the “Grumpy Old Men” line with Mike Keane and John MacLean. After 4 seasons in Dallas, Muller retired at the end of the 2002-2003 season. Following his retirement as a player, Muller returned to the Habs as an assistant coach from 2006 to 2011. He was a coach of the Carolina Hurricanes from 2011-2014 and assistant coach of the St. Louis Blues from2014-2016. He is currently an associate coach of the Montreal Canadiens.
