Learn more about Wendel Clark here: Wendel Clark was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft and was converted from defenseman to forward.  He quickly became known for his hard hitting  hockey,  refusing to back down to the toughest players in the league.  He racked up 227 PIM during his rookie season and earned himself the nickname Captain Crunch.  Clark was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and finished third in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy. Clark spent most of his career in the NHL as a Toronto Maple Leaf, and was named captain of the Leafs for the 1991-92 season.  The following year, Clark led his team into a playoff spot for the first time in 3 years and the Leafs set team records with 44 wins and 99 points.   The Toronto Maple Leafs advanced to the 3rd round against Wayne Gretzky’s Los Angeles Kings with Clark getting a hat trick in Game 6 of the series. Although Wendel Clark was  traded  to the Quebec Noridiques in a multiplayer deal for Mats Sundin, he came back to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1995-1998 and again for his final NHL season in 1999-2000.  On November 22, 2008, the Toronto Maple Leafs honoured their former captain by raising his number 17 to the rafters at the Air Canada Centre.  He was inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Stanowski was originally drafted by the Leafs in 1939.  With them he won four Stanley Cups in 1942, 1945, 1947 and 1948.  After his last Stanley Cup win, Stanowski was traded to the Rangers.  He played with them until 1951 when he retired.  Wally Stanowski passed away in 2015 and at the time of his death, Stanowski was marked the oldest surviving Maple Leaf. After his retirement as a player, Rod Seiling became a junior hockey coach.  In 2006, Seiling was appointed Chair of the Ontario Racing Commission. Learn More about Pierre Pilote: Hall of Famer Pierre Pilote played in the NHL from 1955-1969 with the Chicago Blackhawks and one season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Pilote was an outstanding defenseman, winning 3 Norris Trophies and being the runner up another 3 times. Pierre Pilote was paired with teammate Elmer ‘Moose’ Vasko and was one of the best all-time defense pairings. Pilote was a great offensive defenseman, often carrying the puck up the ice.  The Hawks had floundered for years prior to Pilote's arrival. But with the likes of Pilote, Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Glenn Hall, the Chicago Blackhawks became Stanley Cup champions in 1961. Pilote scored the winning or tying goal in every Blackhawks victory that season. Although 1961 pre-dated the Conn Smythe Trophy, Pierre Pilote was the obvious playoff MVP for the Hawks. His 15 points led all players in the Stanley Cup playoffs that year.. The following season Pierre Pilote became the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. Pilote retired from hockey in 1969 after one season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Pierre Pilote's great career was recognized in 1975 when he was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He retired having played 890 regular season NHL games, in which he scored 80 goals, 418 assists and 498 points. The Chicago Blackhawks retired the number “3” worn by Pierre Pilote and the late Keith Magnuson in a joint ceremony in 2008. Learn More about Nick Kypreos: Nick Kypreos was a talented winger that showed great promise to become a leading goal scorer when he finished second in the OHL with 62 goals.  He went undrafted in the NHL and signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers, although he made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals.  Kypreos struggled to score at the NHL level but quickly made a name for himself as a rugged enforcer.  In his eight NHL seasons, Kypreos played for the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, New York Rangers and his hometown, Toronto Maple Leafs.  Kypreos spent a lot of time in the penalty box and was at the top of the league in penalty minutes.  A career highlight for Nick Kypreos was winning the 1994 Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers.  He was traded to Toronto where his career came to an abrupt end after a fight with the Rangers’ Ryan VandenBussche.  Kypreos hit the ice face first after being punched unconscious.  He was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.  After he retired as a player, Nick Kypreos became a broadcaster and hockey analyst.
