Learn More about Jean Sebastien Giguere: Jean Sebastien Giguere was a goaltender that played from 1997-2014 for teams such as the Hartford Whalers, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche. He was drafted in 1995, 13th overall by the Whalers. He made his NHL debut at the end of the 1996-1997 playing in only 9 games. He was traded to the Calgary Flames where he spent 4 seasons mostly with the AHL affiliate team. Giguere began the 2000-01 season with the Mighty Ducks AHL team and was eventually called up as back up goalie which qualified as his rookie season. By 2002-03, Jean Sebastien Giguere posted his first winning season with a career high 8 shut outs helping the Ducks reach the 2003 playoffs. Giguere set an NHL record for most saves by a goaltender in the Ducks’ playoff debut with 63 saves over the Detroit Red Wings. He was the star of the series after they swept the Red Wings in 4 games. He received the Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP after going undefeated in 7 overtime games. He went on to win his first Stanley Cup Championship in 2007. Although Parent was a top netminder, the Flyers seeking more offense, traded Parent to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The trade proved beneficial to Parent as he got to share goaltender duties with his childhood hero Jacques Plante. Under Plante’s guidance, Parent became a better and more proficient goalie as he perfected the “stand-up style” he modeled after Plante. Bernie Parent left the Leafs to join the WHA and returned to the Philadelphia Flyers after just one season. His next two years in Philly proved to be the best of his career. He won back to back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975 along with the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in both seasons. Sadly, Bernie Parent’s career was cut short in 1979 when he took a stick to his right eye causing temporary blindness. Although his vision returned, there was permanent damage to his eye forcing his retirement. Parent remained with the Flyers for a number of years as goaltending coach. Learn More about Vic Hadfield: Vic Hadfield made it to the NHL as a rugged enforcer for the New York Rangers in 1959. He posted triple digit penalty numbers and led the league in 1963-1964 with 151 penalty minutes. As Hadfield’s career progressed with the Rangers, he was put on the same line with Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert. This line would become known as the Goal a Game line and Hadfield’s focuses shifted scoring. Vic Hadfield was an example of one player doing it all as his points totals came closer to matching his penalty minutes. In 1971-1972, he had his career best season with 50 goals, 106 points and 142 PIM. He became captain of the New York Rangers the following season and was also chosen to play in the 1972 Summit Series. Hadfield was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for the start of the 1974 season where he played for 2 seasons before a knee injury ended his career. Learn More about Mike Keenan: Mike Keenan is a long time professional hockey coach that has served several leagues and teams in the NHL. He began his career coaching at the varsity and junior levels in 1977. He led the Oshawa Legionaries to back to back championships in 1979 and 1980. Mike Keenan moved on to coaching the Rochester Americans to the AHL championship in 1983. The following year, Keenan got his first high profile coaching job, coaching the Philadelphia Flyers in 1984. He was with the Flyers for 4 years before becoming head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks in 1988 and head coach of the New York Rangers in 1993. In 1994, he led the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup Championship since 1940. Mike Keenan also was coach and/or GM for the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers. In 2007 Keenan became senior advisor to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. This position was short lived as he returned to the NHL to coach the Calgary Flames. Keenan recorded his 600th win as a coach with the Flames. Keenan left the NHL to join the KHL in 2013. As a rookie, he played on one of the top lines in the NHL with Denis Savard and Al Secord, scoring 43 goals and 90 points for the Calder Trophy. He played for the Blackhawks from 1982-1993 when he was traded to the New York Rangers.
