Hockey runs in the blood of the Parise family as he is the son of J.P. Parise, a former player for the Minnesota North Stars and the 1972 Summit Series. His brother Jordan is a retired professional goaltender. Zach Parise was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2003 and made his NHL debut in 2005, amassing 32 points in his rookie year. He started off his NHL career with a bang, scoring 76 goals for the Jets (an NHL record) and winning the Calder Memorial Trophy. Teemu Selanne was traded to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks where he was paired with teammate Paul Kariya, the young duo helped lead the Ducks to their first ever playoff appearance. Selanne played briefly with the San Jose Sharks before opting to be trade to the Colorado Avalanche to rejoin Kariya in what they’d hoped would be their best chance at winning the Stanley Cup. Although his cup dreams with Colorado never materialized, Teemu Selanne returned again to the Anaheim Ducks where he successfully led his team to the 2006-07 Stanley Cup Championship. Teemu Selanne retired from hockey holding numerous records and awards. Federov could do it all: he had superior speed, excellent puck handling skills and was a gifted playmaker. He normally played as a forward but also could play defense if needed. He began his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1990. He very quickly became a fan favorite with his extraordinary skills and high scoring. The 1993-1994 season was a career season for Federov where he scored 56 goals and 120 points. In the mid-nineties, Detroit coach Scotty Bowman put Federov on the Russian Five line with Vyacheslav Kozlov and Igor Larionov as wingers and Slava Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov on defence. This highly effective line essential shut down the opposing teams’ offense and they played a leading role in the three Red Wings Stanley Cup Championships in 1997, 1998 and 2002. Sergei Federov won numerous NHL awards including the Hart Memorial Trophy for MVP (1994), the Lester B. Pearson Award, the Frank J. Selke Trophy and three Presidents Trophies with Detroit. He appeared in six All-Star games and was the winner of the skills competition for Fastest Skater in 1992 and 1994 and Hardest Shot in 2002. He played for the Boston Bruins, California Golden Seals, Philadelphia Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings. Leach was originally drafted by Boston in 1970. He played two seasons with them but was traded along with Rick Smith and Bob Stewart to California. After playing three seasons with California, Leach was traded to Philadelphia for Larry Wright, Al MacAdam and Ron Chipperfield in 1974. Leach won the Stanley Cup with Philadelphia in the 1974-75 season. After a few seasons with Philadelphia, Leach played his last season with the Red Wings then retired. Bourque made an immediate impact with the Bruins during his rookie season. He was known as one of the best defensemen in the NHL, not only for his defensive skills but also for his ability to score goals. He finished his rookie season with 65 points, a record for a rookie defenceman at the time. He won the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the year and a First Team All-Star selection. In 1985, Bourque and Rick Middleton were made co-captains for the Bruins. Bourque would wear the “C” to away games, while Middleton would captain at home. These two seasons were plagued by injuries and surgeries that minimized Forsberg's ice time. After his contract expired he was traded to the Nashville Predators. As an unrestricted free agent, he played part of a season with Colorado, again being sidelined due to injury. In 2011 he announced his retirement citing troubles with his ankles and feet as part of his reasons. His jersey number was retired during the 2011-12 season.
