This trade was a strong basis for the Nordiques/Avalanche foundation. He signed a contract with Quebec in October of 1993 but due to a lockout his debut was delayed until 1995. His rookie season was impressive, with 50 points on offense, responsible defence, and physical play. At the end of the season he was awarded the Calder Trophy and the NHL All-Rookie Team. In August of 1995 the Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche. During their first season in Colorado they won the season's Stanley Cup championships. This 1995-1996 season, was both Forsberg's highest scoring season and the only time he would play in every game of his team's season. The following year he played in only 65 regular games and 14 of 17 playoff games due to a bruised thigh, however due to the points scored while he was playing, Forsberg earned the team its first Presidents' Trophy. That year he was chosen to appear on the cover of EA Sports' game “NHL 98”. In 2001 Colorado won another Stanley Cup but Forsberg was unable to play past the second round due to health reasons. After getting his spleen removed he decided to take the following season off to recuperate but did return for the playoffs where he lead the scoring with 27 points. Season 2002-2003 was a banner year for Forsberg, now much healthier than in previous years, he led the league in scoring with 106 points and was awarded both the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Memorial Trophy. In 2005-2006 season after the NHL lockout, Forsberg signed a two-year contract with Philadelphia due to the salary cap imposed on the league. These two seasons were plagued by injuries and surgeries that minimized Forsberg's ice time. After his contract expired he was traded to the Nashville Predators. Learn More about Peter Forsberg: Swedish centre Peter Forsberg was drafted sixth overall in 1991 by the Philadelphia Flyers, but due to a holdout by first overall draft pick Eric Lindros, Forsberg and four other players, along with two draft picks, were traded to the Quebec Nordiques in exchange for Lindros. This trade was a strong basis for the Nordiques/Avalanche foundation. He signed a contract with Quebec in October of 1993 but due to a lockout his debut was delayed until 1995. His rookie season was impressive, with 50 points on offense, responsible defence, and physical play. At the end of the season he was awarded the Calder Trophy and the NHL All-Rookie Team. Hull became a leading goal scorer for the Blackhawks. He became the first player to score more than 50 goals in a season in 1966, ending the season with 54 goals, the highest season total of the Original Six era. Despite Hull being a superstar in the NHL, he felt he was not fairly compensated by the league. In 1972, he signed with rival World Hockey Association and the Winnipeg Jets for an unprecedented $1 million. Hull would go on to surpass his previous record for goals in a season, finishing with 77 in the 1974-75 season. After the merger of the Leagues, Hull played one more season with the NHL Jets before being traded to the Hartford Whalers. Hull ended his career with as impressive record of 1063 regular season games played in the NHL, with 610 goals, 560 assists and a total of 1170 points. Furthermore He played in 411 WHA regular season games, scoring 303 goals, 335 assists and 638 points as well as numerous trophies and award included the Order of Canada, and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Chara emigrated to North America from his native Slovakia at the age of 19 with one year remaining in junior eligibility to learn how to play hockey here with a smaller ice surface. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the 1996 Entry Draft and began playing on the team in the 1997-1998 season. Zdeno Chara is an excellent stay-at-home defenseman who at 6 foot 9 inches is the tallest player in the NHL. His tall stature makes him physically intimidating and he is known as a hard hitter. He has a powerful slapshot and his offensive numbers increase year over year. Chara spent four seasons with the Islanders and another five with the Ottawa Senators. The Sens recognized his growing skills as he turned into an elite defenseman. In 2006, Zdeno Chara joined the Boston Bruins and was made captain. Chara would reach the 50-point mark with the Bruins and in 2011, his efforts were rewards with his first Stanley Cup Championship. Chara was also the recipient of the James Norris Trophy for leagues’ best defenseman. Internationally, Chara represents his native Slovakia and has appeared in three Winter Olympics including being chosen as the flag bearer during the opening ceremonies in 2014.
