Giguere began the 2000-01 season with the Mighty Ducks AHL team and was eventually called up as back up goalie which qualified as his rookie season.  By 2002-03,  Jean Sebastien Giguere posted his first winning season with a career high 8 shut outs helping the Ducks reach the 2003 playoffs.  Giguere set an NHL record for most saves by a goaltender in the Ducks’ playoff debut with 63 saves over the Detroit Red Wings.  He was the star of the series after they swept the Red Wings in 4 games.  He received the Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP after going undefeated in 7 overtime games.  He went on to win his first Stanley Cup Championship in 2007. Jean Sebastien Giguere played one season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and another 3 seasons with the Colorado Avalanche before announcing his retirement.  Giguere was the last active NHL player to have played for the Hartford Whalers.
