Learn more about Bobby Hull: Bobby Hull joined the NHL in 1957 with the Chicago Blackhawks. He quickly blossomed into a star player, known for his incredible speed, end to end rushes, his powerful shot and blonde hair, he was nicknamed “The Golden Jet.” Hull finished second in voting for the rookie of the year, Calder Trophy. Hull became a leading goal scorer for the Blackhawks. He became the first player to score more than 50 goals in a season in 1966, ending the season with 54 goals, the highest season total of the Original Six era. Despite Hull being a superstar in the NHL, he felt he was not fairly compensated by the league. In 1972, he signed with rival World Hockey Association and the Winnipeg Jets for an unprecedented $1 million. Hull would go on to surpass his previous record for goals in a season, finishing with 77 in the 1974-75 season. After the merger of the Leagues, Hull played one more season with the NHL Jets before being traded to the Hartford Whalers. Federov could do it all: he had superior speed, excellent puck handling skills and was a gifted playmaker. He normally played as a forward but also could play defense if needed. He began his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1990. He very quickly became a fan favorite with his extraordinary skills and high scoring. The 1993-1994 season was a career season for Federov where he scored 56 goals and 120 points. In the mid-nineties, Detroit coach Scotty Bowman put Federov on the Russian Five line with Vyacheslav Kozlov and Igor Larionov as wingers and Slava Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov on defence. Ron Hextall brought a new style of goaltending to the NHL because he liked to come out of the net and play the puck, lending support to his team’s defensemen. Hextall was also a very aggressive goalie which lead to three suspensions of 6 or more games throughout his career. He had more than 100 penalty minute in each of his first three seasons and set NHL records for penalty minutes by a goaltender. Hextall was an excellent stick handler and became the first NHL goalie to score a goal, not once but twice, once against the Bruins on an empty net and again against the Capitals. Ron Hextall played his first four NHL seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers. A combination of injures and suspensions let Hextall to be traded to the Quebec Nordiques in 1992 as part of the Eric Lindros trade when Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques who drafted him first overall in the 1991 Entry Draft. Hextall helped the Nordiques reach the playoffs and was again traded the following season to the New York Islander where he played one season before being sent back to the Flyers. Hextall helped the Flyers to the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. At the end of the 1998-1998 season, Hextall was waived by the Flyers and went undrafted in the expansion draft. He announced his retirement on September 6, 1999. Hextall helped the Flyers to the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. At the end of the 1998-1998 season, Hextall was waived by the Flyers and went undrafted in the expansion draft. A combination of injures and suspensions let Hextall to be traded to the Quebec Nordiques in 1992 as part of the Eric Lindros trade when Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques who drafted him first overall in the 1991 Entry Draft.
