He played in only 19 games over four seasons with the Leafs before being signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers. Muni was a solid defenseman that was an excellent shot blocker and penalty killer. Craig Muni spent seven full seasons in the big leagues with the fast flying Oilers, winning three Stanley Cup Championships along the way in 1987, 1988, and 1990. His last five seasons in the NHL were spent with the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Dallas Stars. The bulk of his career was spent with the Sabres who drafted him 29th overall in 1974. He excelled in his rookie season, accumulating 62 points total. He was selected to two All-Star teams and had two 50 goal seasons with a career best of 56 goals (tied for best in the NHL) and a total of 89 points. Gare was team captain from 1977 until 1981 when he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. Danny Gare ended his career as an Edmonton Oiler in 1987 after 819 games. After his retirement as a player, Danny Gare was an assistant coach and color analyst for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was also a broadcaster for the Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was inducted into the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 and had his number 18 retired by the Sabres in 2005.
