Learn More About Cesare Maniago: Cesare Maniago was a professional ice hockey player.  He was a goaltender that played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. Maniago was originally drafted by Toronto in 1960.  He played seven games for the Leafs in the 1960-1961 season.  He was picked by the Montreal Canadiens the following season.  The high point of his time with Montreal would be a 14-game stint in the relief of the ailing Jaques Plante in 1963.  Maniago had a good season with the Minneapolis Bruins of the CHL in 1965, winning the league's MVP award. After that he was traded to the Rangers.  In 1966, Maniago competed for the starter goalie and was also given a questionable distinction by allowing Bobby Hull to score his 51st goal that year as Hull was the first in history to do so. In 1967, Maniago was the expanding Minnesota North Stars first pick for a goaltender.  Due to Maniago’s play the North Stars were led to the playoffs five out of six of their first seasons however at the end Minnesota struggled.  They tried to find a suitable goalie to help Maniago before taking Gump Worsley out of retirement in 1970.  After 1974, Minnesota's fortune sagged as Worsley retired and Maniago was traded to the Canucks where he played two seasons before retirement. After his retirement as a player, Rod Seiling became a junior hockey coach.  In 2006, Seiling was appointed Chair of the Ontario Racing Commission. Following his playing career Ed Olczyk became a color analyst for the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He served as head coach of the Penguins from 2003-2005.  He is currently a color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks .  In August 2017, Ed Olczyk was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.  He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. Learn More About Norm Ullman: Norm Ullman is a retired center who played in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings.  Ullman started his professional career in 1956 with the Detroit Red Wings.  Ullman was known for his stick-handling, his stamina and consistency.  He was centering the line with Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay.  Ullman's career statistics place him as one of the greatest centers in NHL history.  He had 490 regular season goals, 739 assists and 1229 points. Learn More About Mike Gartner: Mike Gartner is a retired ice hockey player.  He played right wing in the NHL for the Washington Capitals, Minnesota North Stars, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Phoenix Coyotes.  With these teams Gartner played a total of 19 seasons. Gartner was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in 1979 and made his debut that year in October against the Buffalo Sabres.  1979-1980 was a solid season for Gartner.  When Gartner was traded in 1989, he left Washington as the all-time leader in career goals, assists and points.  As of 2017, Gartner is third in goals and points and fourth in assists. Despite Gartner being a skillful player, he only lasted one season with Minnesota before he was traded to the Rangers.  Gartner scored 11 goals and 16 points in the remaining 12 regular season games.  The next season, 1990-1991, Gartner became the first player to reach his 500th goal, 500th assist and 100th point all in one season.  The next season he became the first Ranger to score at least 40 goals in 3 consecutive seasons.  Gartner was traded again in 1993-1994 to the Leafs.  He played with them until 1996 when he was traded to the Coyotes before he retired, two seasons later.
