Learn More about Darryl Sittler Darryl Sittler is a retired NHL Centre who played professional hockey from 1970 until 1985 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings. In his first season as captain of the Maple Leafs, he finished the season with 41 goals and 59 assists, the first Leaf ever to reach the one-hundred-point level. In the Canada Cup that year, he scored the winning goal for Team Canada in overtime. Sittler also set an NHL record for most points in one game which still stands. Due to a breakdown in communication with ownership and management of the Maple Leafs, Sittler requested to be traded. In 1982 he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers where he played one season. On the same day the Flyers were going to announce Sittler as their captain, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. After retirement, Sittler was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989. He was also elected to the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2016. On October 15, 2016, the Toronto Maple Leafs officially retired Darryl Sittler’s jersey number 27. Sittler was also named on the Hockey News’ list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players. Gilmour was part of the largest trade in NHL history bringing him from Calgary to Toronto where he immediately helped to revitalize the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs. Gilmour broke both personal and franchise scoring records with the Leafs in his first full season with the organization and ultimately led them to finish the 1992-93 season with the eighth best record in the NHL and their first winning season since 1978-79. Gilmour was one of the most popular players on the Leafs during tenure. Despite his status as fan favorite, Gilmour was traded in 1997 to the New Jersey Devils and subsequently played for the Chicago Blackhawks. With the Blackhawks, Gilmour returned to Toronto to play the last game in historic Maple Leaf Garden receiving a standing ovation by the Toronto fans during the Garden’s closing ceremonies. After a few more trades, Gilmour returned to Toronto where he played only one game before an injury caused him to miss the remainder of the season. Gilmour officially announced his retirement on September 8, 2003. Gilmour had scored 450 goals and 964 assists in 1474 games over his 20 year NHL career. On January 31, 2009 Gilmour’s number 93 was raised to the rafters by the Toronto Maple Leafs and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

Learn More About Ed Olczyk: Ed Olczyk was professional ice hockey player that played center for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and the Pittsburgh Penguins during his 16 season career. He was drafted 3rd overall in the 1984 Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored his first NHL goal in his first game with the Blackhawks. With the Blackhawks, he was part of the Clydesdale line with wingers Troy Murray and Curtis Fraser, a nickname given to them because each one weighed in at 200 plus pounds. In 1987, he was traded to Toronto and in 1990 he was traded again to the Winnipeg Jets. In 1992 he became a member of the New York Rangers where he was part of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Ed Olczyk played for the Jets a second time, with the Kings and Penguins before ending his career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2000. Following his playing career Ed Olczyk became a color analyst for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He served as head coach of the Penguins from 2003-2005. He is currently a color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks . In August 2017, Ed Olczyk was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
