He played for the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals in the NHL. In the WHA he played for the Birmingham Bulls. Langway was first drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1977 and in that same year by the Bulls. Langway only played one season with the Bulls 1977-1978 before officially playing for the Canadiens. His first season in the NHL was 1978-1979 and with Montreal he won a Stanley Cup. Langway played for Montreal until 1982-1983 when he was traded to Washington. Shortly after that trade the Capitals made Langway captain; a position he held for his remaining 11 seasons. Although some thought Langway was not very offensive, he played his position phenomenally and he was awarded with the Norris Trophy as the league's best defensemen in 1983 and 1984. Internationally, Langway represented the U.S.A. and played for them in 1981, 1984 and the 1987 Canada Cup. He also played in the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1982. After retiring from playing, Langway was a coach for teams in the minor leagues. Rod Langway was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002. Currently Housley is an assistant coach for the Nashville Predators. Housley is the second leading scorer amongst the U.S born players. He had 1232 points and he held the spot as best scorer until Mike Modano passed it in 2007. Housley also played more NHL games than anyone else without winning a Stanley Cup, although he came close with Washington in 1998. In 2000, Housley played his 1257th NHL game and had the spot for most games played by an American. He held the title until Chris Chelios broke that record almost 7 years after. As a coach, Housley did pretty well. One of his biggest accomplishments would be coaching Team U.S.A. to a gold medal in 2013. Learn More About Pat Riggin: Pat Riggin was a professional goaltender who played in the NHL for the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Riggin also played for the Birmingham Bulls of the World Hockey Association. Pat Riggin's first regular season was with the London Knights in the OMJHL, his first year in the NHL was 1979 with the Atlanta Flames. Riggin was very competitive about being the starting goalie but the Flames had a three-way rotation of him, Dan Bouchard and Reggie Lemilin. After a while it became a duo rotation with just Riggin and Bouchard but both had sizable egos and in 1982 Riggin was traded to the Washington Capitals. From the season, he joined the Washington Capitals, Riggin had a rollercoaster career. In 1983, Riggin was the number one stopper but Al Jensen soon took the spot and it was he who was chosen to play in the All-Star Game. After this Riggin hurt his back but the team was still able to secure the Jennings Trophy between the two goaltenders. In 1985-1986 Riggin was off to a slow start and was traded to Boston. When he was playing with the Portland Pirates Kölzig was awarded with the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy and the Hap Holmes Memorial Award. In 1995-96, the Capitals recalled him as their back-up for Jim Carey. In 1996-97, the Capitals acquired Bill Ranford and Kölzig stayed as a back-up goaltender. In early 1997 Ranford suffered an injury and Kölzig took over doing quite well, playing 33 games with a 2.20 goals against average. In 2000 Kölzig won the Vezina Trophy. Kölzig played with the Capitals until 2008 when he signed a contract with Tampa Bay. Kölzig got injured and he could not play through the entire season. In 2009 Kölzig announced his retirement.
