Butterfield Trophy and the Hap Holmes Memorial Award. Learn More About Pat Riggin: Pat Riggin was a professional goaltender who played in the NHL for the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Riggin also played for the Birmingham Bulls of the World Hockey Association. Pat Riggin's first regular season was with the London Knights in the OMJHL, his first year in the NHL was 1979 with the Atlanta Flames.  Riggin was very competitive about being the starting goalie but the Flames had a three-way rotation of him, Dan Bouchard and Reggie Lemilin.  After a while it became a duo rotation with just Riggin and Bouchard but both had sizable egos and in 1982 Riggin was traded to the Washington Capitals. From the season, he joined the Washington Capitals, Riggin had a rollercoaster career.  In 1983, Riggin was the number one stopper but Al Jensen soon took the spot and it was he who was chosen to play in the All-Star Game.  After this Riggin hurt his back but the team was still able to secure the Jennings Trophy between the two goaltenders.  In 1985-1986 Riggin was off to a slow start and was traded to Boston.  He initially played well but his edge was soon gone.  Pat Riggin retired in 1988.
