He played left wing in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers and the Washington Capitals. He won the Stanley Cup five times in his career in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990 with the Oilers and 1994 with the Rangers. Esa Tikkanen was originally drafted in 1983 by the Edmonton Oilers. Tikkanen's first game in the NHL was the second game of the 1985 Stanley Cup Playoffs. By playing in this one game, Tikkanen was eligible to have his name put on the Stanley Cup before his career even began. Tikkanen played with the Oilers until 1991. After this his career was a bit jumpy. In 1993, he was traded to the Rangers for a season. He was then traded to the St. Louis Blues where he played 11 games when he was traded to the New Jersey Devils. In 1996-1997, Tikkanen was traded yet again to the Rangers. In the summer of 1997 Tikkanen became a free agent but soon signed a contract with the Panthers which was also a short stay as he was traded to the Capitals. He was drafted 3rd overall in the 1984 Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored his first NHL goal in his first game with the Blackhawks. With the Blackhawks, he was part of the Clydesdale line with wingers Troy Murray and Curtis Fraser, a nickname given to them because each one weighed in at 200 plus pounds. In 1987, he was traded to Toronto and in 1990 he was traded again to the Winnipeg Jets. In 1992 he became a member of the New York Rangers where he was part of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Ed Olczyk played for the Jets a second time, with the Kings and Penguins before ending his career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2000. Following his playing career Ed Olczyk became a color analyst for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He served as head coach of the Penguins from 2003-2005. He is currently a color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks . In August 2017, Ed Olczyk was diagnosed with colon cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Learn More about Ed Litzenberger: Ed Litzenberger was an NHL center playing for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and the Toronto Maple Leafs during his 13 year career from 1952-1965. He played only 29 games for the Montreal Canadiens before being traded mid-season to the Blackhawks. He posted 40 points in 40 games and won the Calder Memorial Trophy. Litzenberger was named Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks in 1957-58 and he led his team to their first Stanley Cup Championship (since 1938) in 1961. Despite winning the Cup, Ed Litzenberger was traded to the Detroit Red Wings the following season where he played only 32 games before being traded again to the Toronto Maple Leafs. With the Leaf, Ed Litzenberger won 3 consecutive Stanley Cup Championships, becoming only 1 of 3 players (Al Arbour and Claude Lemieux) to win consecutive cups with different teams. Ed Litzenberger spent the final years of his career in the AHL where he won 2 Calder Cups with the Rochester Americans. He became the only player in North American hockey to win 6 straight pro hockey championships. Sadly, Ed Litzenberger passed away on November 1, 2010 at the age of 78.
