Learn More about Al MacInnis: Al MacInnis was a legendary defenseman that was best known for super hard slapshots. MacInnis was drafted in the first round, 15th overall by the Calgary Flames in 1981. He went on to play 23 seasons in the NHL, with the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues. He was a 13 time All-Star and 7-time winner of the All-Star games’ Hardest Shot competition. MacInnis played an instrumental role in his teams’ 1989 Stanley Cup Championship and was the recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP. He left the Flames after 11 seasons and was the leader in scoring with 822 points, 603 assists and 803 games played. Al MacInnis was traded to the St. Louis Blues where he continued to excel as a high scoring defenseman. He was awarded the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the leagues’ best defenseman in 1999. Unfortunately, MacInnis’ career was cut short due to a series of eye injuries that led him to retire in 2005. Ending his career with 1,274 points, MacInnis ranked third all-time in goals, assists and points amongst defensemen. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007 and his number was retired by the Blues and raised to the rafters by the Flames. Following his retirement as a player, Al MacInnis remained with the Blues organization and serviced as Vice-President of Hockey Operations. He became a regular with the Red Wings in the 1988-1989 season, only scoring 7 goals in 56 games but also amassing 60 penalty minutes. His tenure in Detroit was short lived as he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in November 1989. He was part of “the Kid line” alongside Martin Gelinas and Joe Murphy who helped the Oilers with their 5th Stanley Cup in 7 seasons. Adam Graves was signed by the New York Rangers as a free agent for the 1991-1992 season. He was asked to fulfill the role as a two-way forward as he had during his highly successful junior career. Graves responded well to the challenge increasing his performance with 26 and 36 goals in his first two seasons with the Rangers, helping them achieve the Presidents Trophy the first year with a league high 105 points. He won his second Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Graves played for the Rangers until 2001 when he joined the San Jose Sharks. He retired his skates in April 2004. He signed with the Quebec Nordiques where he played until 1995 when the franchise relocated to Colorado to become the Avalanche. In Colorado, he won two Stanley Cups, one in 1996 and the second in 2001. In the 2005-2006 season, Foote signed on with the Columbus Blue Jackets after thirteen seasons with Colorado, here he was automatically assigned alternate captain until defenseman Luke Richardson stepped down from his captaincy in December 2005. Three seasons later, Foote was traded back to Colorado for two conditional draft picks. On June 28th, 2008, Foote signed again with Colorado for a two-year contract. The first full season of this contract was cut short for Foote due to an injury resulting in him only playing 42 games. Further injuries in the lineup resulted in Colorado finishing last in the Western Conference that year. Learn More about Adam Foote: Adam Foote was a former defenseman drafted twenty second overall in the 1989 NHL draft. He signed with the Quebec Nordiques where he played until 1995 when the franchise relocated to Colorado to become the Avalanche. In Colorado, he won two Stanley Cups, one in 1996 and the second in 2001. In the 2005-2006 season, Foote signed on with the Columbus Blue Jackets after thirteen seasons with Colorado, here he was automatically assigned alternate captain until defenseman Luke Richardson stepped down from his captaincy in December 2005. Three seasons later, Foote was traded back to Colorado for two conditional draft picks. On June 28th, 2008, Foote signed again with Colorado for a two-year contract. The first full season of this contract was cut short for Foote due to an injury resulting in him only playing 42 games. Further injuries in the lineup resulted in Colorado finishing last in the Western Conference that year. In the off-season captain Joe Sakic announced his retirement and Foote was chosen as his replacement in 2009. In April 2011, Foote played his last game with Colorado before his retirement.
