Learn More about Don Cherry: Don Cherry is best known as the very outspoken commentator on the Coaches Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada.  He began his hockey journey as a player in the OHL and later moved on to the minor American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears.  He spent 20 years playing in the minors with only one call up to the Boston Bruins where he played in one playoff game in 1955.  He retired as a player but returned to the Rochester Americans a couple of years later.  Midway through the season, he began coaching the club and was awarded Coach of the Year in 1972. Having success in the minors, Don Cherry became head coach of the Boston Bruins in 1974.  He was an eccentric, flamboyant coach that encouraged the physical part of hockey and the team under Cherry’s leadership became known as “the Big Bad Bruins.”  He led the team to four straight division championships and in 1976 won the Jack Adams Award for coach of the year.  He was also coach of Team Canada during the 1976 Canada Cup. He became a broadcaster in 1980 and he began his tell-it-like-it-is segment Coaches Corner, during the first intermission of hockey games.  Don Cherry is a strong support of tough “Canadian” type hockey that encourages fighting and physical play.  Cherry had his own video series, Don Cherry’s Rock Em’, Sock Em Hockey that included hockey highlights and his trademark banter.  He is also the owner of a successful chain of restaurants as well as an owner of the Mississauga Ice Dogs. • Eddie Mio Detroit Red Wings Autographed Goalie Pose 8x10 Photo This Eddie Mio Detroit Red Wings Autographed Goalie Pose 8x10 Photo has been personally autographed by Mr. Mio.  Included with your purchase is a Certificate of Authenticity from Slapshot Signatures. Learn More About Eddie Mio: Eddie Mio was a professional ice hockey player.  He played in the NHL and WHA as a goaltender.  During his career, Mio played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and the Indianapolis Racers. Mio first put himself on the map for professional hockey when he decided to join the Colorado College from 1972-1976.  During that time Mio became a standout as he won first and second all-star awards.  He also made the NCAA west first all-American team two years in a row.  In 1974, Mio was officially drafted by the Blackhawks and the Blazers of the WHA but he played with neither and spent most of his time playing with smaller teams until he went to the Indianapolis Racers. Mio's goaltending was rough with the Racers and the biggest thing in his career would be befriending Wayne Gretzky.  Shortly after that Mio was traded again to the Oilers in 1978.  In Alberta, Mio got his first NHL action and had his first winning season in 1980-1981 before being traded again to the Rangers.  With New York Mio backstopped the Rangers for two seasons, then he was traded to Detroit for a season before retiring in 1986. • Glenn Hall Signed Picture Detroit Red Wings 8X10 ROY note This hand-signed 8x10 photo has been personally autographed by Glenn Hall. To protect your investment, a Certificate Of Authenticity and a tamper evident holofoil from Slap Shot Signatures is included. Learn More about Glenn Hall: Glenn Hall is also renowned as the grandfather of the butterfly goalie. He was the first goalie to practice and perfect the now common butterfly stance, as he'd fall on knees, spread his legs to take away the bottom corners and five-hole and let his rapier-like arm reflexes take care of the top corners. Almost  every goalie in hockey today relies on the strategies he perfected. During his 18-year NHL career, which began in 1952 and ended in 1971, Glenn posted a 407-327-163 record, 2.51 goals-against-average and recorded 84 shutouts. He was a First Team All-Star seven times, won three Vezina Trophies, was voted the league's top rookie in 1955-56 and was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy in a losing cause in 1968. Despite his lengthy career, Glenn won his only Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 1961. Hall played his rookie season and more with Detroit Red Wings, before a trade involving a Red Wings goalie. Glen Hall was packaged up in the infamous Ted Lindsay trade to the Chicago Blackhawks. At the age of 36, he was left unprotected in the 1967 Expansion Draft and was chosen by the St. Louis Blues. Due in large part to Hall's heroics, St. Louis went all the way to the Stanley Cup final in their first year in the NHL. Though they would eventually lose to the Montreal Canadiens in four games, Hall was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the league's top playoff performer. In 1968-69, Jacques Plante joined the team and the two veterans shared the goaltending duties, and split the Vezina Trophy. Glen Hall Retied in 1971 and worked with St Louis and later the  Calgary Flames as a goaltending coach and consultant. Hall was inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975. Osgood began to get better as the Detroit goaltender and became their primary goalie in 1995-1996.  Vernon and Osgood shared the William M. Jenning Trophy. Detroit traded Vernon to the San Hose Sharks in 1997.  Vernon played two full seasons with the Sharks but was traded in 1999 to the Florida Panthers.  He played 34 games with this team but was soon traded back to the Flames.  He played a few seasons with the Flames and was named one of the best goaltenders in that era. Learn More About Ted Lindsay: Ted Lindsay was a professional ice hockey player who played forward for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.  He was a fierce competitor that earned the nickname “Terrible Ted” because of his rough and tough style of play, causing the NHL to create new penalties such as elbowing.  Despite his time spent in the penalty box, Ted Lindsay was a great player who scored over 800 points during his Hall of Fame career.  Lindsay also won four Stanley cups with the Detroit Red Wings and was named in the first group of NHL's 100 greatest Players in 2017. Ted Lindsay’s first season was in 1944 when he was 19.  He first played for Detroit and was part of the high scoring “Production Line” with Sid Abel and superstar Gordie Howe.  In the 1949-1950 season, Lindsay won the Art Ross Trophy for leading the league in points during the regular and played a large role in his team winning the Stanley Cup.  In the late 1950s, Lindsay also helped organize the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA).  This was a huge factor to Ted Lindsay being traded to the Blackhawks.  Lindsay played three seasons with the Blackhawks but wanted to retire a Red Wing so his last season in 1964-65 he played for Detroit. Ted Lindsay was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966 and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.  Also, Ted Lindsay's #7 was retired by the Detroit Red Wings in 1991.
