He played his first seven years with the Canadiens and won 4 consecutive Stanley Cups from 1957-59. Phil Goyette was traded to the New York Rangers where the skilled playmaker continued to improve his game and increase his numbers. 1969 was a career season for Goyette as he joined the St. Louis Blues and put up 78 points in the regular season. He was also awarded a Lady Byng Trophy as the League’s Most Gentlemanly Player. Goyette was picked up by the Buffalo Sabres during the 1970 expansion draft. He played just over a season before his retirement as a player. After his retirement, Goyette became the head coach of the New York Islanders. He played for Toronto from 1958-59 season to 1969-70 and was nicknamed the China Wall for his solid goaltending at an older age. Johnny Bower played for Toronto for 11 seasons, bringing home 3 Consecutive Stanley Cup victories in 1962, 1963 and 1964. He would win one more Stanley Cup in 1967, with tandem goaltender Terry Sawchuk, with whom he shared the Vezina trophy for best goaltender. Johnny Bower would receive many awards and honors after his retirement from hockey in 1970. He played 3 seasons with the Canucks before being traded to the Boston Bruins. Neely joining the Bruins was turning point in his career where he was given more opportunity to play and a chance to contribute offensively, not just physically. His first full season following the trade, Neely led the club with 36 goals and finishing the season with 72 points, more than doubling his previous year’s performance. Neely’s success stemmed from not only his quick, powerful shots on goal but his also his physical play and devastating body checks. He became a power forward for the Bruins and earned the nickname “Bam-Bam Cam.” His first season with the Bruins ended with 143 minutes in the penalty box. Sadly, Neely’s career was cut short due to repeated knee injuries and a degenerative hip condition at the age of 31. However, he did have some remarkable scoring achievements. Only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Brett Hull scored a better goals per game average over the course of a season. He reached the 50 goal mark 3 times and played in 5 All-Star Games. His intense effort to return to the NHL despite the injuries earned him a Masterson Trophy and the Boston Bruins honored him by raising his number 8 to the rafters on January 12, 2004.

He was first drafted by the Rangers in 1981 but played for their minor affiliate the Tulsa Oilers. Vanbiesbrouck’s first official season with the Rangers was 1984-85. That year Vanbiesbrouck won a Vezina Trophy and was a First Team All-Star the next season. In 1993, Vanbiesbrouck was traded to the Florida Panthers and was a huge factor in the Panthers winning the Stanley Cup in 1996. While with Florida, Vanbiesbrouck recorded his 300th career victory, becoming the fifteenth goalie to do so and the second American goalie. Vanbiesbrouck also played on an international level with the United States many times. He played in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in 1982 and played at four IIHF World Championships. Pat Riggin's first regular season was with the London Knights in the OMJHL, his first year in the NHL was 1979 with the Atlanta Flames. Riggin was very competitive about being the starting goalie but the Flames had a three-way rotation of him, Dan Bouchard and Reggie Lemilin. After a while it became a duo rotation with just Riggin and Bouchard but both had sizable egos and in 1982 Riggin was traded to the Washington Capitals. From the season, he joined the Washington Capitals, Riggin had a rollercoaster career. In 1983, Riggin was the number one stopper but Al Jensen soon took the spot and it was he who was chosen to play in the All-Star Game. After this Riggin hurt his back but the team was still able to secure the Jennings Trophy between the two goaltenders. In 1985-1986 Riggin was off to a slow start and was traded to Boston.
