Learn More about Bill Ranford: Bill Ranford was an NHL goaltender that began his career with the Boston Bruins as their second round draft pick. Despite some solid performances with the Bruins, Ranford didn’t get the chance to shine until he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in late 1988. Bill Ranford backed up starting goaltender Grant Fuhr and helped lead the Oilers to the 1988 Stanley Cup Championship. The following season, Ranford was again backup for Fuhr but a serious injury left top spot open for Billy Ranford. Ranford proved himself to be a superstar for the Oilers, leading them to their second Stanley Cup Championship in 1990 against his old team, the Boston Bruins. Ranford was the unanimous choice for the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Bill Ranford joined Team Canada in 1991 as the starting goalie in the Canada Cup Series. They went undefeated and Ranford was picked as MVP. He was also chosen as the starting goalie in the 1993 and 1994 World Championship where they won gold the second year. Ranford was traded back to Boston and later played for the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings and back to Edmonton where he ended his career. Bill Ranford is currently the goaltending coach for the LA Kings, a position he’s held since 2006. He had his name added to the Cup a third and fourth time as a coach in 2012 and 2014. He was drafted 3rd overall in the 1984 Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored his first NHL goal in his first game with the Blackhawks. With the Blackhawks, he was part of the Clydesdale line with wingers Troy Murray and Curtis Fraser, a nickname given to them because each one weighed in at 200 plus pounds. In 1987, he was traded to Toronto and in 1990 he was traded again to the Winnipeg Jets. In 1992 he became a member of the New York Rangers where he was part of the 1994 Stanley Cup Championship team. Learn More about Grant Fuhr: Grant Fuhr was a NHL goaltender drafted eighth overall in the 1981 Entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He played ten seasons with the Oilers and won the Stanley Cup four times with them from 1983-1987. In 1987 he also played in the NHL All-Stars Rendezvous series and in the 1987-19 88 season's Canada Cup to secure a win for his team. That same year he won both the Vezina Trophy for best goalie and the Hart Memorial Trophy for league MVP. He also played in the All-Star games from 1984-1986 as well as 1988 and 1989. In 1991 Fuhr was traded to Toronto and then again to Buffalo. In 1993-1994 he had a successful season that resulted in a William M. Jennings Trophy for fewest goals allowed. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Kings though he did not have another successful season until he signed as a free agent in St Louis for the 1995-1996 campaign. He achieved two league records that season for games in a season (79) and consecutive games (76). Fuhr did not complete the playoffs due to tearing three knee ligaments; he never recovered fully from the injury. In his first season with the NHL, Laprade earned 34 points in 49 games and won the Calder Memorial Trophy for rookie of the year. He made four All-Star game appearances throughout his career. He was a goaltender that played for the New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers. Kirk McLean was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1984. He debuted with the Devils in 1985-1986 before being called to Oshawa. McLean had to compete with many for ice time so he was sent to their AHL affiliate, the Maine Mariners. He was a goaltender that played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. Maniago was originally drafted by Toronto in 1960. He played seven games for the Leafs in the 1960-1961 season. He was picked by the Montreal Canadiens the following season. The high point of his time with Montreal would be a 14-game stint in the relief of the ailing Jaques Plante in 1963. Maniago had a good season with the Minneapolis Bruins of the CHL in 1965, winning the league's MVP award. After that he was traded to the Rangers. In 1966, Maniago competed for the starter goalie and was also given a questionable distinction by allowing Bobby Hull to score his 51st goal that year as Hull was the first in history to do so. In 1967, Maniago was the expanding Minnesota North Stars first pick for a goaltender.
