Learn More about Adam Foote: Adam Foote was a former defenseman drafted twenty second overall in the 1989 NHL draft. He signed with the Quebec Nordiques where he played until 1995 when the franchise relocated to Colorado to become the Avalanche. In Colorado, he won two Stanley Cups, one in 1996 and the second in 2001. In the 2005-2006 season, Foote signed on with the Columbus Blue Jackets after thirteen seasons with Colorado, here he was automatically assigned alternate captain until defenseman Luke Richardson stepped down from his captaincy in December 2005. Three seasons later, Foote was traded back to Colorado for two conditional draft picks. On June 28th, 2008, Foote signed again with Colorado for a two-year contract. The first full season of this contract was cut short for Foote due to an injury resulting in him only playing 42 games. Further injuries in the lineup resulted in Colorado finishing last in the Western Conference that year. In the off-season captain Joe Sakic announced his retirement and Foote was chosen as his replacement in 2009. In April 2011, Foote played his last game with Colorado before his retirement. Learn More about Bobby Clarke: Bobby Clarke began his NHL career as a Philadelphia Flyer, being chosen 17th overall in the 1969 Entry Draft. He played the entire 76-game schedule in his rookie season, earning 46 points and being named to the NHL All-Star Team. Clarke was named Rookie of the Year and finished 4th in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy. Clarke quickly became an integral part of the Flyers team with his vision and playmaking skills, a strong work ethic and a thirst to win. He was named Captain of the Philadelphia Flyers at the age of 23, the youngest captain in NHL history at the time. The 1975-76 season was record breaking for Clarke. He made the NHL that year and was nominated to the NHL All Rookie Team. He played 2 seasons with the Whalers before he was traded to the St. Louis Blues. Chris Pronger flourished with the Blues and by his third season was named team captain. 1999-2000 was a career season for Pronger where he accumulated 62 points and won the Norris Trophy for league’s top defenseman and the Hart Memorial Trophy for NHL MVP. Learn More about Doug Gilmour: Doug Gilmour Team Canada -Doug Gilmour represented Team Canada in the 1981 World Junior Hockey Championship, the 1987 Canada Cup where he played 8 games and scored 2 goals and the 1990 World Ice Hockey Championships. Doug Gilmour was drafted into the NHL in 1982 by the St. Louis Blues. He quickly earned the nickname “Killer” due to his aggressive physical style of play despite his smaller stature. Gilmour was part of the largest trade in NHL history bringing him from Calgary to Toronto where he immediately helped to revitalize the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs. Gilmour broke both personal and franchise scoring records with the Leafs in his first full season with the organization and ultimately led them to finish the 1992-93 season with the eighth best record in the NHL and their first winning season since 1978-79. Gilmour was one of the most popular players on the Leafs during tenure. Despite his status as fan favorite, Gilmour was traded in 1997 to the New Jersey Devils and subsequently played for the Chicago Blackhawks. With the Blackhawks, Gilmour returned to Toronto to play the last game in historic Maple Leaf Garden receiving a standing ovation by the Toronto fans during the Garden’s closing ceremonies. After a few more trades, Gilmour returned to Toronto where he played only one game before an injury caused him to miss the remainder of the season. Gilmour officially announced his retirement on September 8, 2003. Gilmour had scored 450 goals and 964 assists in 1474 games over his 20 year NHL career. Learn More about Guy Lapointe: Guy Lapointe was an NHL defenseman that played for the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins from 1968-1984. He is best known for his time spent in Montreal when he established himself as one of the “Big Three” defenseman including Serge Savard and Larry Robinson. The “Big Three” were a key component to the Habs winning the Stanley Cup six times in 1971, 1973, 1976-1979. Guy Lapointe was an all-around defenseman that excelled in checking but also had a lethal slapshot. He was often used on the powerplay. He only spent two seasons with St. Louis and one with the Boston Bruins before announcing his retirement. Internationally, Guy Lapointe represented Team Canada and was chosen to play in the famous 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union. He played again in the 1976 Canada Cup. Lapointe finished his career after playing 884 regular season games with 622 points, including 171 goals and 451 assists. He still holds the record for most goals for any Montreal defensemen with 28 and most goals for a rookie defenseman with 15. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993. Learn More About Harry Sinden: Harry Sinden has spent over 50 years as part of the Boston Bruins organization in varying roles starting from player, head coach to general manager, president and senior advisor to the club’s owner. Sinden was a great defenseman but he never played in the NHL. He played defence for the minor team, Toronto Marlboro Bantams and then in the Ontario Hockey League on the Oshawa Generals from 1949 to 1953. After playing with Oshawa, Sinden played six seasons with the Whitby Dunlops who he captained in 1957 when the Dunlops won the Allan Cup. Also he won a silver medal in the 1960 Olympics as part of the Canadian National Men's Hockey Team. Harry Sinden coached minor league hockey for six seasons starting in 1960 and became head coach of the Boston Bruins in 1966. Sinden was the youngest coach in the league at age 33 and the team finished with the worst record in the league his first season. Sinden got increasingly better and in the 1969-1970 season, Sinden coached the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Championship, their first in 29 years. Sinden retired from coaching just after the Bruins won the Cup due to his rocky relationship with Bruins management. He was named head coach and manager of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series despite spending two years away from hockey. After the successful Summit Series, he was offered the position of General Manager of the Bruins—a position he held for 28 years. Sinden remained with the Bruins as President. During his reign, the Boston Bruins had 30 consecutive playoff appearances. Harry Sinden was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 as a builder.
